it depends where the "blue files" are on the c drive and what they contain.

what size of hard drive are we talking about here?

buying a bigger hdd is pretty cheap nowadays

320Gb hd for £28 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Caviar-SATAII-Internal/dp/B003VWDNFI/ref=sr_1_9?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1292439535&sr=1-9

500Gb hd for £30 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Barracuda-7200-12-Internal-7200RPM/dp/B001IKKCLS/ref=pd_cp_computers_0

or a 1 tb hd for £40 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Caviar-3-5-inch-Internal/dp/B003SLE8H4/ref=pd_cp_computers_1

What version of windows are you using, and what type of files are they?

Edit: Have they got names like this: $NtUninstallKB973815$

I've just looked at mine and there are indeed many blue files.

The KB###..$ bit is the numbering system used for windows update files, so I would guess these are log files of some sort to allow you to uninstall particular windows updates.

Whether they are safe to delete or no, I couldn't say.

That's the files I am on about. Am not after another hard drive though. I did read somewhere once upon a time that they were safe to delete but just wanted to get it confirmed.

Am using XP Pro.

most of the files are compacted to take up less room anyways but i would not go around deleting things that you dont know what they are, as this could lead to some pretty bad errors. you complain about the size of your hd hence why i put up some links for new ones
