some great pics there - you missed a photo op with your former pupil and his trophy winning bantam!
-
Bought 2 x 1 tonne bags from Garricks - the first lot was great, dry and burnt well. the second lot was wet, we had to dry it out before we could use it and the logs were huge and needed splitting to fit in our stove. If going there, ask for the bags kept inside (they're kept near the space heater for the workshop) - and check the size before you leave. We collected (1 tonne bag's worth fits in a Berlingo), but I believe they deliver for a fee.

We missed a session because of people being away so are meeting tonight, 7-9 in the Aith Leisure Centre with a mini geocaching trial after if anyone is interested!
-
I travelled recently on the boat with my sister and her children in the 3 berth disabled cabin (my niece is disabled). On the way down we had the tea and coffee making facilities, on the way back we didn't. On the way back we could use mobiles in the cabin until we sailed which was new.

Just is case anyone else is wondering about this, Leask's no longer work with railcards. The youth railcard has to be obtained from a railway station in exchange for the voucher sent by the council. Aberdeen station's ticket office opens at 6.15am during the week so is available to early morning ferry users.
-
If you buy local - Cope, Planticrub, Rosa at Tresta, the guy at the golf course (names escape me atm) they will be able to advise you on what will grow best in your situation - and will be growing the plants themselves.
-
Thanks, I'll need to check then, this is a free youth card and the instructions are "take your voucher to your nearest railway station and exchange for your card".
-
My 16 year old had just been sent his vouchers for ferry, bus and train travel. Does anyone know if there is a way to swap the train voucher for a youth rail card without going to Aberdeen? It would be fine if he had it to go with, not sure if the ticket office is open first thing in the morning. He is going away at the end of next week and taking the train to Edinburgh.

Lucky you to be able to watch them!

Crafters there tonight from Aith, Brae, Vidlin, Mossbank and Voe doing knitting, scrapbooking, crochet and basket making, not forgetting eating cherries and drinking tea and coffee!
-
Puffins? Nope! Can't see any!

*bump* Meeting at 7 on Wednesday

30 years service. How about with no pay but the gratitude of the many children and families who have been involved over the years?
-
Spoke to her hubby last week, he was going to get her to email some info - no reply, do I see a theme running here? and they're off to Australia in a couple of days for the summer!
-
My son would like to take part in this scheme. He has sent a message to the local contact through the DoE website, I have emailed her direct and also emailed the DoE regional office. No replies.
I'm puzzled as last week's Shetland News and Shetland Times both ran a story saying that DoE was expanding in Shetland and would be starting groups in Sandwick and Brae. As my son goes to Brae High I asked there, no one knows anything about it.
Does anyone know how he can contact someone who not only knows what is happening, but would also reply?

You forgot gorgeous!
-
Not sure what you would need in the way of a license?
Braewick cafe (already been used for a wedding)
For just the after ceremony party:
Voe Sail loft ( camping bod)
Marquee at Fethaland
Noss
Mousa
The wheel house reconstruction at Scatness
(Not sure of the viability of any of these suggestions!)

Do you do any of the following?
• Scrapbooking
• Card making
• Knitting
• Crochet
• Spinning
• Cross stitch
• Patchwork
• Basketry
• Fly tying
Do you do anything else? Eid Craft Group meets at the Aith Leisure Centre once a fortnight. The above list are examples of some of the crafts done by our members at the group. It's very informal, we chat and have a cuppa, help each other if we can. Next meeting is on Wednesday 23rd June, 7-9 pm. All meetings are advertised in Shetlink's Events Calendar.

OK, having the rest of the names too makes sense - was wondering why a gorgeous foal was named after a cow!
-
Sounds like the outdoor activity team out for a day
-
Lovely - but why Ermintrude?
-
The blueprint seems to not address the level of expenditure at Hayfield House, just direct cuts to school services.
Abolish knitting and appoint a dialect co-ordinator for 3 years at a MUCH higher cost!

The new curriculum for excellence states that:
Experiences in the expressive arts involve creating and presenting and are practical and experiential. Evaluating and appreciating are used to enhance enjoyment and develop knowledge and understanding. My learning in, through and about the expressive arts:
* enables me to experience the inspiration and power of the arts
* recognises and nurtures my creative and aesthetic talents
* allows me to develop skills and techniques that are relevant to specific art forms and across the four capacities
* provides opportunities for me to deepen my understanding of culture in Scotland and the wider world
* is enhanced and enriched through partnerships with professional arts companies, creative adults and cultural organisations.
Does knitting not fulfil that requirement?

Hardly! lol! He is very proud of Papa Pekin though, he's had him since he was an egg. Papa got best fowl and best poultry exhibit although his harem only managed a 3rd between them!
