Well my 2 are lying sleeping after their run tonight!
-
My car has a twin - it's at the house and at hubby's work!
-
Good bit of drifting happening in the north mainland.
-
Well spotted! Great pics and thanks for the info too.

Road Report: Brae:
ALL BRAE roads are completely clear with NO SNOWFALL since the Early Hours.
However roads to Brae have been affected by drifting snow, take care folks!
-
It's snowing here in Voe atm. The main problem with the roads hasn't been fresh snow fall but drifting snow blocking roads. Apparently where the road cuts through between Parkgate and Olna has been a bad spot today.

The early bus from Mossbank to Lerwick got to Tingwall and turned back, the round trip took 2 1/2 hours.
Why do people assume that the buses will get through when other vehicles can't? Admittedly a gritter is often sent to cover bus routes, but the drivers of gritters and buses are only human!

Fantastic!

I'm asking for proof that all of those support staff are really justified and providing value for money.
Well I earn my money - and do unpaid overtime most days, providing even greater value for money. I believe that what I do makes a difference to the kids I work with and the teaching staff too. It's bad enough with the blueprint putting staff morale in the pits without having people with no knowledge of present day school systems having a pop too.

1. Homemade perogies fried with butter, bacon and plenty of onions.
2. Ice cream maker + Ben & Jerry's recipe book
3. Going to the gym first and earning 'calorie credits' so as to indulge in 1 & 2 guilt free.
I love the idea of calorie credits!
Shetland as it was on Saturday - nothing to beat it.
Remembering to take my camera when walking the dogs!

Hope he does well. I remember his Mum Hilary - ooh, that's going back a bit, innit!
Just a bit - Andrew was 5 when they went to Alaska, just about to start school here as he had missed starting the year before by a couple of days then had to wait another year to start in the American system. All 4 kids are very sporty - mind you so are Hilary and Frank.

Andrew Musgrave who lived in Voe with his family as a child is competing in Cross Country events for Team GB.

Best view I've had was at Mossbank pier sitting in the car!

Another option is to get them made into photobooks - then you get the photos you want printed into the book so it's ready when you get it. I've done this a couple of times and was pleased with the quality, I used Snapfish which was easy to use but there are plenty of others doing it too.

There was a piece on him on the news on tv last night - great publicity we're getting from this -- not!

joost heard on da Shetland News dat da schools are on!! Who is making these decisions? It's no better dan Friday when dey sent all da bairns out in the snow and den sent dem all home again.
Roads are no looking great this morning at all.
It might not be better than Friday where you are, but the roads where I am are significantly improved since Friday. The education dept don't know what the roads are like in every area, which is why the decision today has been left to head teachers to make, a sensible decision in my view.
Plus the ultimate decision about whether to put the bairns out lies with their parents, if you don't think it's safe where you are, keep them home!
-
This is fairly mucking up the prelim timetable for the bairns at Brae.
-
excellent!
-
Just heard the same from a headteacher
-
As before, pupils will be 'consulted' by members of the ed dept staff from Hayfield, not their teachers.
-
Well done - great idea, pity about the weather but this is Shetland in the middle of winter!
-
That was for the last round of consultation. We went through all the hoops then and now we have to do it again! Before that it was called Best Value - and they consulted widely on that too. I haven't seen any evidence that they are acting on the results of all this stress and repetition.

Good luck, spookily I was reading about Doula training a couple of hours ago. I think it's a great idea!

and now Toft's ramp has broken down leaving the North Isles with a shuttle ferry service running to Vidlin, any idea how long that journey takes?
