  1. Interesting observation but find this a bit hard to believe given my own personal expereinces over the past three weeks. But you never know.....
  2. Two years without the slightest issue in this respect and how many before the first instance vailron - when in your opinion has jsomebody paid their dues to society or should we just lock everyone who has committed a crime in the past and throw away the key just IN CASE they do it again
  3. I would still speak up if my feelings were strong enough. Cnat be too committed to their views I would suspect and as I say they have had over two years to do this before any campaign got under way.
  4. Possibly a fair point vailron but why then did they NOT speak out when Sakchai was first released back into the community over two years ago? No outcry, letters in the paper then etc etc
  5. i think its is more to do with who you know and who can do the most shouting- be interesting if in the future another case comes froward if the same people shouting now is quiet when its not their pals? hope im wrong though Yes you are wrong Sam - that being your one consistent trait. I am utterly amazed after all I have posted re the fund that you can write such utter nonsense re a big party couyld be thrown or whatever when this is all over. Right from the start we said that IF there was money left over it would be donted, with community agreement, to a similar cause and not necessarily inside Shetland. If you have strings attached to donating please dont - we dont need your money and as of now we can do without your 'involvement' too - see my previous post in this respect. And by the way for your information I was also involved with the Minn and Tanya support campaign as well so dont even go there...... We would do the same for anybody, yes especially a friend, but not limited to that I can assure you
  6. Could be a fair put if potential deportation was a trivial issue.....
  7. Hi everbody Must as it pains me to say it in terms of freedom of speech and the right to use this forum for that purpose one of our so called contributors has stepped over a totallu unacceptable line, so here goes...... SAM I have tried very hard to be patient and tolerant with you from the outset Sam and have, where reasonable, at least tried to answer your questions honestly and fairly even though, in my opinion at least, they often appear to be as erratic, confused and changeable as our weather. I have to say I also get the feeling they are aimed more at general and personal mischief making than being truly interesting, constructive or observant, especially given the seriousness of the subject. I have also attempted to be tolerant and remain open minded when you have made it abundantly clear that many of your angles or thoughts have been loaded more toward personal issues and grievances toward myself and other members of the campaign group, rather than honest and rational observations relating to the current issues at hand. Almost all of these, again only my opinion, are totally irrelevant at this particular time, especially in the context of the Shetland for Sakchai campaign. But now, having failed to inflame me / us in this manner, you have chosen to cross a totally unacceptable ‘line’ and a very dangerous one for you personally. I have been made aware that one prominent member of the campaign team has received, and been subjected to, a malicious and spiteful personal e-mail from you, once again on a subject totally un-connected to the issue of Sakchai Makao or the Shetland for Sakchai campaign. By this action I can only assume that your personal grievances are so deep rooted that you are willing to jeopardise, de-rail or attempt to discredit the campaign, and / or those involved in it, to achieve whatever your personal aims are in this respect and have your personal grievances publicly aired however irrelevant and inconsequential they may be. If this is indeed you aim this is morally reprehensible and disgusting and you should rightly be ashamed of yourself. Whatever your reasons for this personal axe-grinding campaign, especially given the fact that we hardly know each other personally or professionally, I wish you would deal with this in other ways and not seek to damage this campaign. The outcome of this, for Sakchai at least, is far too crucial for us to allow you to damage it by a series of selfish and ill-conceived actions. You have almost continually chosen to be a ‘lone voice’ in this respect. Absolutely no problem with that of course, if your intentions were in any ways honourable – I suspect however they are not. I have also suspected all along that your approach is one of a desperate, if sadly misguided, desire to achieve some level or feeling of self-importance for yourself in the overall scheme of things and to make you stand out from what is after all a pretty large and unanimous crowd – majority of Shetland or not. A case of “if you can’t join them, beat them Who knows!!! However you choose the cowards method of making your points and spouting your personal vitriol – namely electing to hide and speak behind a perceived mask of anonymity. I am sorry to say that in this respect you have seriously miscalculated the situation. Had you chosen to maintain personal discretion at all times, chances are you would have got away with it. If so perhaps hindsight will tell you that being ‘open’ with others, especially in the past, was perhaps a mistake on your part. However that has been your choice and if you now have to pay a price for that indiscretion then so be it. In short, given the seriousness of your most recent action, namely the anonymous, personal e-mail attack on a prominent campaign member – almost certainly an illegal action - you are now in very serious and deserved danger of being, at the very least, publicly unmasked. As I say you yourself have chosen to cross this line and I have no intention of standing by and allowing fellow campaign members to be subjected to spiteful, derogatory and potentially slanderous remarks, and suffer unwarranted treatment at your hands, while they freely offer their voluntary and much appreciated support and services to Sakchai’s campaign. Should you continue to pursue this approach I will have no hesitation in seeking legal action, and passing on the information I presently hold to the suitable authorities for investigation in this respect. Surely you should know that your current standing in the community could be severely compromised should this course of action prove necessary. For the time being however I merely request that you withdraw from such despicable, unwarranted actions and behaviour before it is too late to do so. By all means continue to post on this site and enter into sensible, mature and constructive debate on the issues in hand and try to set aside your petty personal squabbles for another more appropriate occasion. I for one will be happy to openly discuss any such issues with you if you have the desire, courage and conviction to do so in the not too distant future, but somehow I suspect that I need not hold my breath in this respect.
  8. Hi again It would be great if we could get ALL the current petitions back to the Clickimin Centre for Monday at the latest. They will then photo copy them and this will be used at the hearing to confirm the public support issue. All we can say is that if you see a sheet then if it could be delivered to Clickimin by then that would be great. The lads will be collecting around the town so this will be especially important in the country areas or from outside Shetland. Well done again by the way to everyone working for the campaign outside the islands - this remains an amazing part of the whole thing - well focused and making big inroads for us. The petitions of course run beyond Monday if the current issue continues and the plan will then be to deliver them direct to Downing Street. I know for a fact that the name Sakchai Makao is known there by now so it will have the desired effect if necessay. It would be great if not required after the 7th though but lets not hold our breath on that one
  9. Hi everybody Just landed in Aus and good as it is to be here with me sister etc (drams at 7 o clock in the morning no less) it is fantastic to read all the great things that are happening so again a million thanks to you all. Well done everybody in Brae it sounds like a great night, an AMAZING amount of money for the campaign fund and.....well what else can be said. The whoel process seems to be really focused and some good names appearing on the EDM etc so all on track as far as can be - cheers again to you all you are some team. I am well and truly connected to e-mail etc so will keep in touch for sure and will still be active but so many of you are working on this now its got a fantastic momentum all of its own so again cheers for that. Will speak again soon Davie PS Am shortly going to make a fairly important post on the discussion thread so look out for that. A worrying trend which I have chosen to deal with in the strongest possible terms. Your thoughts would be appreciated.......
  10. Thanks RickB - best to bring your 50ps although there will be some to change there. Cheers DavieG
  11. Some music related support - which once again I will point out I did not solicit but nevertheless very much welcome: Sheena Wellington the acclaimed Scottish singer who sang at the opening of the Scottish Parliament has offered her support and 'Runrig' and their management team have sent us a letter of support. Thanks to both of them for this and taking the time to get in touch direct with us. It is very much appreciated. Davie and the SfS team PS Leaving in the morning for holiday in Aus but the fight will go on from there. Taking over the operation of the campaign at this end will be Sandra Jamieson the Chairperson of Shetland Athletics Club and Sam Leckie a highly motivated supporter from the outset. Please give them the ongoing levels of support you have given us to date. On a personal note can I say a MASSIVE thank you to Diane Leyland for the very touching note I received today. It is really appreciated I can assure you Diane, and a pleasure on both counts.
  12. Good thought - but already being done. For instance we had one person who was bed ridden who phoned specially to ask if the boys could come along so he could sign - needless to say they did. However if we were to do that on a wider basis then our sceptical friends like Sam would have a field day and say we were harrassing old people into signing - I dont think so, do you? Thanks
  13. Yes as a matter of fact. Will you Sam? (if shift patterns allow of course) Sorry folks my turn to be a bit offhand but sometimes this kind of 'help' just wears you down (and uses up valuable page space) - especially late at night.
  14. Brilliant Caroline. Would it be worth opening a special thread on this same site especially for fund-raising issues?
  15. Ongong as we speak. Over £3000 for sure. You tell me. The costs will mount daily and no one knows how long this process will take Back to this one again. Do I detect more of your personal concerns, for whatever reason in this area Sam. A number of very reputable people from Shetland have signed up to oversee this fund Sam so please trust us will you. You will be glad to hear that neither I, any other campaign team members or Sakchai's family will have any direct access to it - so rest easy. All money will be officially receipted and accounted for and only used for the following: Additonal legal expenses over and above that previously committed by SRT. Family expenses relating only to supporting the legal process e.g. travel expenses. Any campaign costs agreed by the fund overseers not donated in kind. None to date have been required. I'm sure they will too. Rest assured again none of us are in this for the 'brownie points' Sam although I am sure you believe otherwise. We have consistently given credit and recognised others efforts throughout this campaign. This will NOT change. Anyone organising an event will be duly recognised so again I suggest you leave your well documented personal difficulties with certain campaign members to one side for the time being and for the general benefit of all concerned. Grind your axe with us elsewhere when this campaign is over.
  16. The petitions will run on until we collectively think the time is right to present them to No 10 Downing St. This is not considered the time as yet. However they are now being returned to be copied for presentation to the hearing on the 7th - as an intermit tool - along with a great deal of other supporting information requested by Sakcahi's lawyer. Dont think we need this pointed out to be honest Sam. Your persistent cynasism is sometimes hard for the rest of us to swallow, but rest assured we will. Until this is over it will never be too late. Its having the desired effect as is and will continue to do so we believe. You know me Sam!!!
  17. Just to confirm that the "Good Luck Rally" for Sakchai will be held IN the Clickimin Centre on TUESDAY 4TH JULY AT 7.30PM. This is an informal event just to show our and your support for Sakchai before he leaves Shetland the next day for his Immigration Tribunal. He will need all the support he can get so if you can spare an hour of your time then it will be much appreciated. He will of course be there too of course Posters are going out tomorrow and if you guys could also pass the word around that will be brilliant and much appreciated. FINALLY CAN YOU ALL DO WHAT YOU CAN TO INCREASE THE MP SIGNATURE COUNT ON ALISTAIR CARMICHAELS EDM AS SO BRILLIANTLY SET OUT ON POLAR BEARS POSTS The team see this, along with letters to the lawyer (address on pages 28 and 29) as being top priority at the moment. Also remeber there is a fund raising gig in Brae tomorrow night so it would be great if any of you can get along to that too. Thanks again to everyone for all your ongoing help and as BITM says lets see if we can make the 4th of July a special day in Shetland too and make people power count too. Cheers Davie and the Shetland for Sakchai Team
  18. Cheers to you Cali and as always unbelievable work and support Polar Bear - will speak again soon
  19. This is brilliant to be honest and just the kind of thing to make people sit up and take notice. Sakchai's lawyer assures us that every one wil count. Cheers and thanks again
  20. Cheers for this and that's the spirit. You are right about the world wide approach. Its utterly amazing so thanks again to all concerned. Donations are coming in from all over too so thanks for that as well. It will be needed thats for sure!!!!
  21. Can I also remind and emplore everyone to write a letter of support, or if you know Satch a character reference, to the following address asap Ms Alexandra Bartrope Browell, Smith & Co Solicitors (Immigration Section) Pearl Assurance House 7 New Bridge Street West Newcastle on Tyne NE1 8AQ These letters will be used DIRECTLY in Sakchi's hearing and will be invaluable to his defence. If you know and can influence anyone of influence (or indeed just anyone at all) then please ask them (and you of course) to write even a short note if you support this campaign and want to see the lad home again. Sakchai went back to work today for the first time so another step in the right direction. However do not get complacent. The main battle will be a tough one and will be hard fought and we dont want to have to start again from scratch so please dont leave the hard work to someone else and then find out it was too little too late. I dont believe for one minute this is the case from what I hear again today but just best to be sure. Thanks to Chris, Louise and the 'sooth' (pardon the dialect Derick) gang for all the excellent political / petition ideas for that area. Get in touch with them if you need to know more. Radio 4 in town today to cover the story so its still going. Be prepared for a "Good Luck" send off rally for Satch before he leaves for his hearing. This will take place on the evening of 4th July - Will let you know more details tomorrow - oh later today in fact - just looked at watch. We will also be advising you tomorrow / today re who will be looking after the campaign on the ground so to speak when I head off on Wednesday. We have a good team in place and I will still be doing the press stuff from a distance (its mostly all phone and computer anyway) so no problems there. Goodnight for now all..............
