Hello ! I am Suzanne, the French student who wrote here a few months ago asking if anyone would know about an accomodation for me in Lerwick ; thanks to this forum, I have been able to get in touch with very nice people who have helped me to find somewhere to stay, but also to see through my research about how life is for young people in Shetland. I have been to 3 secondary schools (Aith, Yell and Anderson High School) to give the pupils my questionnaire, and I will go to more schools after the holidays. Since Shetlink has been a great means for me to get in touch with Shetland people, I have another favour to ask you ! I would like to reach young Shetland people between 15 and 24 who are not at school : young people who already have a job, who have left the islands to go to university in the mainland, who are at another type of training, who are unemployed... The ones that I can't reach in the Shetland schools, but who have an opinion about how it is like to live in Shetland (even the ones who are gone to the mainland or anywhere else !) So I have this questionnaire that the young people can fill in online at this address : https://fr.surveymonkey.com/s/youngShetland If you know young Shetland people as I have described them, or people who could know them, can you please pass on this adress to them ? I guess it will take them 15-20 minutes to fill it in, it is just about their own life in relation with Shetland, and their opinion about a few important Shetland issues. Thanks for all your replies !! Ahr, I can see it will not be easy... I have been looking for youth hostels, potential accomodation for Lerwick students and I have checked out the "Accomodation" section, but nothing seems to fit for me (or even exist)... maybe it is because I don't understand everything ! How lucky I am to find a French teacher on this forum ! I wanted to stay in Lerwick because I don't have my driving licence (it is a shame but you know, I live in Paris so I never needed it before !) and I thought it would be easier for me to speak to different people in the capital... Hello everybody ! I have been reading what you write on this forum for a few months now, and I have decided to create my own account at last ! I am a French Geography student and I am going to study next year what it is like to live on the Shetland islands... which means I am going to come for approximatively two months in march-april ! I have sooo many questions to ask you, but my first one will be very practical : do you think I can find a flat, or whatever I can sleep in, not too expensive in Lerwick ? Like a rooming house with other students ? I have already been to Lerwick two years ago, so I am not a total stranger ! I am very excited to come and meet Shetlanders, but quite worried too ! So if you have some ideas for me about housing or anything else I should know... I am reading Raven Black right now, and I love it ! Do you, as Shetlanders ? (I have seen some of you talking about it but the opinions were very different...) I hope you will have some time to answer me and will forgive my bad English ! Thank you !! Suzy
