If you read the Shetland Times from a couple of weeks ago you will see that Hjaltland Housing Association are planning on building houses all over Shetland, not just in Lerwick. Unfortunately the SIC don't have any money to build new houses anywhere.

If Social Rented Housing is so bad why do Hjaltland Housing Association have more than 700 applications for people looking for one of their "poor quality houses". Also if you read the Shetland Times a couple of weeks ago you would have seen that Hjaltland are going to be building in a lot more areas of Shetland. Yell, Eshaness, Aith, Sandwick, to name but a few. So I hardly see that these country areas are going to become deserted.

With reference to BigMouths ranting. If they have a bone about Hjaltland Housing Association applying to build flats with no car parking spaces they should take it up with SIC. They are the ones with the planning policy that states if there are enough amenities within easy walking distance then there doesn't need to be car parking spaces provided.
