peeriebryan
We're trying to organise getting a band (The Fortunate Sons) to the Vikedal Roots Music Festival in the fjords south of Bergen for the weekend of 12-15 July. I would imagine we'll have transport from Bergen provided by the festival organisers, but we still have to establish that We need to get folk from Shetland and Glasgow. Any ideas on the most efficient way? Heimdal
How about flying Aberdeen to Bergen, fast ferry to Haugesund, (great trip, super views) then by road to Vikedal ? There is an airport at Haugesund, but the only international flight is by Ryanair to London Stansted.
peeriebryan
Cheers for that HeimdalHow about flying Aberdeen to Bergen, fast ferry to Haugesund, (great trip, super views) then by road to Vikedal ? That sounds like a scheme. The fast ferries are a hoot indeed. Any idea how long the ferry and road journys would take? And maybe a rough estimate of the cost? There is an airport at Haugesund, but the only international flight is by Ryanair to London Stansted. The Glasgow based boys looked into that. There's something that doesn't sit well about flying Glasgow to Norway via London though!
Heimdal
Last time I did the Haugesund/Bergen trip was in my own boat, a lot slower than the ferries and their wash in a narrow sound caused chaos on board Oddrun will probably have a ferry/bus timetable and pricelist. pm her or Auld Rasmie if they don't respond here

Oddrun
I must admit ; I know nothing about that area - never been there ! But Heimdal is right about the easiest way is plane Aberdeen - Bergen and boat to Haugesund...SAS has a departure from Aberdeen 9.50 in the morning..arriving Bergen 12.20 [we are 1 hour ahead of you, the fligt is just I hour 30 min ] , and also one later in the day...[cant remember when, cant get into their pages today ]Timetabel boat : http://www.reiseinfo.no/ntr/ruter/t/23-421.htm As you see there are departures from Bergen Airport ( Flesland kai) .There is also a bus :Timetabel : http://www.kystbussen.no/dokumenter/Kystbussen_ruter_fra_07052007.pdf Hope this can help you CHEERS !Oddrun
