  1. I like chris hodge. He sells cheap sh*te cheap. Sometimes thats what you want. Who wants one tea towel for ten pounds from an in ower shop when you can get them for less than a pound in hodges. As long as it drys the dishes, and if its cheap you wont feel so guilty for using it to wipe up some spilt paint. Some other shops in toon sell much the same cheap sh*te only at highly inflated prices. disclaimer:- tea towel prices were guesstimations and are no indicatuion as to actual prices in any lerwick shop.
  2. I'm wi Bulldog 2meg unlimited 2499p, (pound sign dont work) with no fair usage policy which is good as I download a lot. their customer service was pretty hellish to start with, sometimes on hold for 45mins. They were just a small company who were growing too fast. No bother now though, phoned them yesterday and got right through. Haven't had any problems with them at all, I've always been able to connect first time and have never been disconnected. I done a speed test and the true download speed is 1664Kbps and 251Kbps upload. I checked it here:- http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp They are going to upgrade me to 8meg in a month or two, although I reckon it will only be 6.5. I would reccomend them to anybody who uses p2p or just downloads a lot, otherwise there are cheaper connections out there as mentioned in previous posts.
  3. I can tell you what not to get. I've had 2 sony ericcsons and they've both been pants. Tempermental buttons and turning itself off whenever it feels like it. motorolla and nokia are both good and reliable cant advise on which model though.
  4. You buggers. Here's me, happy wi my 2meg unlimited Bulldog connection, untill I come across this thread, I can get an 8meg connection!!!!!. Much frantic googling later and BT tells me the fastest I can get is a 2meg connection. Now, at the expense of sounding like a computer geek, I would give my right, no.... left arm for an 8meg connection. Is there any truth behind this and if so where can I get it from. On a similar note, did you know that one ISP is trialing a 100meg connection (only available in parts of London)
  5. Am no a crofter or anything like dat but da Ness o sound looks bony and green, and even if its no used as such, good green land is a precious thing in Shetland. Any whar else aboot da toon is, as his been previously stated, is gettin a bit steep (and expensive) to build on. I ken dat der is plenty o less fertile land in bressay dat wid be ideally suited to building on. But do his a point, do we realy want to give da bressay folk unlimited access to da rest o da isles. Dey ir a bit... welll.. do kens Joost jestin bressay folk, Whit wans I ken o you are fine enough.
  6. I heard dat he telt da polis exactly whar in da hoos da amphetamines wir hidden. I mean Stuart telt dem, no da dug.
  7. I think whit wae da chronic hoosing shortage in shetland ee noo we definetly need a better connection to bressay. 600 folk waitin fir a hoose in lerook is just crazy, is it any winder so mony folk are moving sooth. This is more than just a fixed link its a chance o a few hunner new hooses and all da benefits that go wi dem. As for whit type o link, Im wi da harbour on dis wan. Da Norskis are gettin pretty good at dis tunnelin lark, I'm sure dey wid be able to help wis oot, its no dat far tae go. woooo - first post
