  1. I sent a pm  asking to set up a viewing of a boat that was up for sale last week.

I didn't receive a reply and was blocked

Now, this boat has been up for sale quite frequently lately.

Since then I have recieved quite a few false calls asking for various people, my 'phone however is ex directory , I stupidly gave my landline number.

If anyone has had similar happenings, pm me and we can compare notes.

    Rex.

  2. My trip to Malaysia has had to be cancelled, due to ongoing but different health problems. These are physical problems that were not caused by me, my age or my body. I cannot say more at this moment but I will let all know.

I will however go next year.
I will also eventually, put on here a letter which is one of the most ridiculous answer to a question, that I posed to an authority.

I have also been teetering on the brink of a black hole for a few months now.

  3. For a few months I've been preparing for a trip that I intend to do this year.

I will be doing a trip that I first did 50 yrs ago.

I will fly in to Kuala Lumpur and head straight north to Ipoh where our Ama lived and I hope to find / meet her and her family again.

I will then be going into the jungle at the Thai / Malaysian border and try to contact some people that I stayed with in 1965. They belong to a tribe called the "Jahai Negrito," they are a wandering people but I do know their required habitats. Luckily, they have mostly decided not to leave the jungle and who can blame them.

There is a programme on tv at the moment with David Beckham out in the Amazon jungle.

    I'm going on my own.

    So take that David!

If anyone is interested I can tell you more about my first trip, there were some funny moments and I went on to stay with another tribe later.

    Regards,

    Rex

  6. I am still alive, but has anything changed?

Quite honestly I don't really know!

From the hospital point of view I went for another check with the surgeon, because I have blood in my urine again. So I have to go and see the GP again. I'm suspecting that that is so we can go through the same routine again.

My cases of dog attacks was not really the the offending dog's fault. It was attacking my dog, who is blind and has to be kept on a lead to prevent him bumping into things. The other dog was loose.

I had to go to the GBH, luckily the nurse was just up the road and came within minutes and bundled me off.

Has anyone else been getting viral warnings from the Shetlink site, this is the first time that I've able to connect for a while.

    Rex.

  7. I intend to send this letter to the housing department, this is because these damned officious, ignorant people are annoying me.

    Dear ----,

This is an official complaint reference most of your staff, which are indirectly paid by me and the other tennants.

I would like them to wear their identity tags and also to identify themselves when walking through our rented accomodation. Recently there has been quite a lot of people coming through our common room with tools or clipboards. They have been unannounced and on two occasions have started to drill off door locks. On both occasions I have had to ask if they were burglars. They should as per your rules, notify our support worker in advance of any visits. Of course I do realise that it is sheltered accomodation and also general needs now and this of course needs two different and separate sets of staff to administer to us.

Please act as per your written guidelines from Edinburgh and maybe you will receive answers for this

    SIC Tennants Satisfaction Survey.

Above all teach them to be polite us they will not catch any of our age germs.

They already have their own inherent aging germs.

Incidently I am the wizened old polite gentleman sat in the corner of the common room, I would be willing to give lessons on how to be polite.

    Regards,

    Rex Fearnehough

I am yet again angry with the above people

  8. Well, I've been giving everyone some respite from my long post but I must keep it up. My last appointment went well with Mr MacFarlane and I told him that I thought that the stone had maybe been passed. So they have arranged another ultrasound scan for the 28th April followed by another appoinntment a half hour later  at the x-ray dept. On the 1st of May I then have another appointment with Mr Macfarlane. Unfortunately I must tell him that the pain is back again and there is occasional bleeding. So that part of my life is out of the way for now.

The next time I'm on the forum, I will tell you how I was attacked by the same dog 3 times within the last week.

No I am not accident prone!

    Regards,

    Rex.

  9. That's it, hjasga is right. I believe that he means that we should offer the tourists a black bag as they arrive. They then have to cut two holes for their legs to go through. The position of these holes should be 1foot above the bottom of the bag so that it will leave a handy pouch, for obvious reasons.

Hjasga can you not see how unsanitary it is not to have adequate public toilets? It is probably also illegal.

If you go to Aberdeen with your family do you not use public toilets?

    Regards,

    Rex.

  10. n view of the closure of some of our public toilets, we must go back in time to see how our ancestors used to cope.

The first flushing toilet is reputed to have been at Skara Brae circa 31st century BC, so we have to go back further than that. To a time when we had no fear of dropping our keks when the need came, there were no chariots in those days so there was no fear of being run down in mid crouch. Going for a walk/picnic was a family affair and squats/squatters had a different meaning then.

So what can we do to prevent tourists coming up here to use our toilets?

It seems to me that we are missing an oppurtunity to cash in on our lack of toilets.

We do not want them to foul our beaches so a 2440mm (8ft) x 300mm (12 ins) plank with a hole cut in the end should clear them over the banks and rocks. There is a a problem with this, a further two heavy people are needed to balance the other end. Choose your planks carefully!

There is another way which is Dial - a - Bog, a small fleet of mobile toilets towed behind taxis, there is a possible bonus in this way by charging for the taxi and the toilet.

There is also a third way and this is genius, a specially adapted suitcase with a pull up curtain and a chemical toilet inside. These toilets could be sold at all entry points to Shetland, maybe hiring them out would be more profitable

Investment could possibly be had from the council, they know a good deal when they see one.

There is however a dilemna. Will we have to declare Shetland a toilet free zone?

Vorsprung durch Technik. Bressay is leading the way, they have a Dial -a -Boat to the Noss toilets but check the timetables first. In the winter there is a 7 months wait.

    Regards,

    Rex

  11.

At the end of the day I see it as I'm buying a service off them, a specified piece of accomodation for a specified period, and I expect to receive that, and only that. Like any other vendor if they have an issue with my paying for it, they have the same avenues to pursue it as any other vendor. I am not their servant, nor are they my mother, and I resent and object them attempting to act as if both were the case.

Ghost, first of all, they are working for you.

You and I are their employers this is because our taxes, rates and service charges, pay their wages.

Lots of these office workers become napoleonic. I was recently introduced by an outgoing "official" to the replacement "official" with the phrase, " Rex, this is ---- she will be in charge of you." I firmly and emphatically reminded him that I was in charge of him and her.

If they wish to meet up with you they should send you a written request giving you a possible date and time for a meeting. There should be the usual blurb about if it is inconvenient to you etc, etc. Now I would be inclined to change the the date and time, maybe to a friday at 1615hrs or monday at 0900 hrs, maybe that would be too harsh a punishment.

  12. I have the same form on my desk.

    It is addressed correctly to

    Me,

    Rex Fearnehough, etc

    It then carries on with,

    Dear Mr Fearnehaugh,

As one of our tenants we want to know what you think of of the services we provide for you.

    Now me,

    Dear Housing Services,

As I am one of your employers, I would like you to use my correct name in future correspondences.

You are required to submit Your  assessment to the regulator, which you receive from us after each job or modification is carried out. Oh damn, you don't send them out anymore.

Housing Regulator launches new Charter system

    01 April 2014

We are making big changes in the way that we collect information from social landlords.  From today, landlords will begin using our new online Social Landlord Portal to report on the progress they are making towards the Scottish Social Housing Charter.

The new Annual Return on the Charter is the first stage in a series of changes we are implementing to make it quicker and easier for landlords to submit their information to us.

In August, we will publish a report for each landlord that will show tenants and service users how well their landlord is performing against key performance indicators on the Charter.

Our Chief Executive, Michael Cameron,  said: “We would like to thank the group of landlords who worked with us to develop and test the new Landlord Portal.  This really constructive and useful process helped us to base the user experience of the new portal directly on landlords’ views.â€

Landlords should submit their Annual Return on the Charter using the Portal by 31 May 2014.

We will continue to keep landlords informed and offer further support and guidance as we continue to develop our new online IT system. If you have any queries about this, please email us at shr@scottishhousingregulator.gsi.gov.uk

  13. Angel, your post moved me very much.

Thank you for telling us even though it must have been painful for you.

My problems are as of nothing compared to you and your son's and there are others that have been allowed to suffer too.

How have these neglectful and most likely criminal acts been allowed to happen?

When did they start to happen?

New empires were allowed to form and grow and their constant bleating of, " We know that we have problems but we are working through them."

!5 years later they are bleating more than the coming lambing season but I do not find them so cute.

People are dying under the present Nhs, (as I have said above), of neglect,  wrong medication, wrong diagnosis and doctors that stop the medication because they know better than our consultants.

If the above is true why are we paying the consultants?

Patients that are sent home and die a couple of hours later.

So what can we do about it?

We are at the moment bringing it to the publics attention here on this forum, it will be taken up by one of the nationals eventually. So please keep this thread going by posting your examples of neglect and dangerous behaviour.

Spring has arrived so it is a good time to prune out the dead wood.

    Regards,

    Rex.

  15. Thanks folks.

In the last couple of days I've had some results. I had some bleeding and bad pain but my appetite has returned and it may be that the stone has left the kitchen. The pain has eased and my stomach is demanding food aurally

My appointment went very well, the consultant explained everything to me I will be having another x ray to check if the stone did escape. If it is still there, I will have to go to ABZ to have it dug out, I don't think that the surgeon used those words but it is what he meant. He also said that he couldn't understand why it had all taken so long. So I told him that it was inefficiency and that some people couldn't be bothered doing their jobs.

    regards,

    Rex.

  16. Paul,

I am still waiting for a sensible explanation of my ct scan.

All I got, from the doctor was a hurried, breathless explanation of stones in my kitchen which turned out to be stones in my, kidneys. This was followed by the statement that he had no responsibility to pursue my case further!

Then why are we told to contact the health centre for the results and why does a receptionist have the authority to answer my questions?

    Where are the doctors?

Some are obviously not reading from their in trays?

A few years ago I went to the health centre to ask about the results from another scan, the receptionist read my file in front of me and couldn't make head nor tale of what it said. So I asked if I could see it and she said that I wasn't allowed to see it. I obviously demanded to see the office manager, who said that certain patients weren't allowed to read their own notes. Yet an untrained person could make this decision!

I wonder is this still the case today?

If this has happened to anyone else send me a pm I will promise secrecy.

I am going to ask permission to record any conversations with the NHS.

    Regards,

    Rex.

  17. I like the idea of this discussion, I have been  trying very hard in recent years to come to terms with the idea of my mortality. I do not fear it and I cannot compare it with other peoples experiences. My sisters death recently, shocked me and I realised that I was angry and it seemed to be because, I know that I will die. But why should other people die? At the moment I can't really explain that last sentence any better than I have. Since early teens I have been angry that the world is going to end. I have used the word angry again.

So back on track, dignity in death or how I wish my last days to be.

I do not want to be killed even by pulling the plug. I have and am enjoying my life, so experiencing death is a part of my life.

Is it really possible to have dignity in death?

I came into this life naked, crapping, spewing and screaming!

No one said that I was born without dignity in fact people said that I was a beautiful child, or so my Mother told me.

    So dying with dignity.

Do we live with dignity? It is unfortunately a very rare state to find today. Dignity is easily bought off.

My final days I want to live them as per the advice given by Dylan Thomas to his dying father in his “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, “ with a touch of Charles Bukowski's “Be Kind.†And the final words will be on my tee shirt, because I will be raging, raging.

    It will be,

    “Tell all the Truth.â€

“Tell all the truth but tell it slant,
    Success in circuit lies,
Too bright for our infirm delight
    The truth's superb surprise;

As lightning to the children eased
    With explanation kind,
    The truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind. “

    Emily Dickinson.

PS. On the back of the tee a picture of Miley Cyrus from “Wrecking Ball.â€

  18. I don't know what has happened but I do know that none of us should leave the forum.

If someone attempts to annoy you, invariably they are wishing to impress someone, they will be using a pseudonym because they don't have the courage to voice an opinion any other way. They are pointless people.

    owre-weel,

    unlinked student,

    Ghostrider,

    Colin, you're all good people.

Midges annoy us but we are still here.

Moderators, you're doing a good job, thanks.

So what to do about the stupidity in posts,

    "Condemnant quod non intellegunt."

    "Aquila non capit muscas"

Death is 'core business' of Scottish hospitals, university study finds

Almost one in three hospital patients in Scotland will die within a year, and nearly one in 10 will die during their time in hospital, a study has found.

The Glasgow University report says the findings suggest that part of the "core business" of hospitals is people who are nearing the end of their lives.

    Professor David Clark Glasgow University

The research team studied 10,000 people who were in 25 Scottish hospitals on one day - 31 March, 2010.

In total 3,098 patients, almost 31%, died within 12 months.

The study found that 9% died during their admission.

Older patients were more likely to die, and men were more likely to die than women.

Just over half of all male patients over the age of 85 died within the year.

Lead author Professor David Clark said: "I think what this paper really shows us is that what we call 'acute' hospitals really have, as part of their core business, the care of people who are coming to the end of their lives.

"The key message for me is how, as organisations, hospitals start to think more widely about the implications of that."

The likelihood of dying in hospital has been rising, despite the fact that surveys suggest most people would like to die at home.

Well this seems very promising doesn't it?

Were the deaths age related, inability to diagnose the problem or by neglect?

I am sure that most of us realise that a lot of deaths are due to being old.

But, "The Hospital tolls the knell of parting day," ?

    Thomas Gray missed that one!

    Regards,

    Rex.
