  1. Agreed Ghostie. the Purple is indeed 'Shocking'.. Anywhere else and it might be mistaken for a 'Gay Bar' The Lager is nice tho....
  2. ^ The Co-op colours look nice. Better than the grey granite that seems to be everywhere else.. Wir talking Toon here Can you maybe just hear the mundane meeting wi da toing and froing arguments about all of this? "Na, Na, we canna hae dis Red Flashing Sign, as it'll start tae look too much like Soho.. I geed dere, it was so aful, dat I hid tae geeng back fir a sicond look" Pathetic....allow the Sign...
  3. The real reason why the Council want this sign taken down is that probably many of the sailors from the Tall-Ships are likely to see this "Flashing T Sign" and think it may be a 'knocking Shop, wi Pole and Lap Dancing and a licence to sell as much drink as one can hold - you know sailors... Changing it to T would probably be acceptable to the old Duffers "up on the hill', but not, I think, to Tenants... I would also feel sure, that most of the signage seen all along the harbourfront doesn't conform in any way, with this idiotic planning rule..
  4. Hoo mony 'Yellow-Vans' are the Cooncil running nooadays
  5. Petrol in City of London - 135.9 Plush Flat for Rent - 460 per week Salary 85,000pa Petrol in Shetland 139.9 Nice Flat for Rent - 160pw Salary - 31,000 Not very scientific I know, but the only thing that's comparible seems to be the Juice...
  6. Can I ask, is there any substance to that belief, or is it merely unfounded personal speculation? (I'm not one of them, I might add, I'm just averse to spurious statistics, if they arise) Any substance to that belief? - Yes... Merely unfounded personal speculation? - No... Averse to spurious statistics! - Me also...
  7. ^^ I still think Local Membership to be around the 8 mark. The 682 figure probably relates to overseas investors taking a punt via a reasonabley well-thought-out website, but which can be bought and set-up without any real cost involved.. Scary also, when you see Paypal and Forvik mentioned within the same website...
  8. Wouldn't the Venerable Brian, our well-paid archivist have something to say on this whole subject? I raised this point once before, but he was only commenting back on various subjects (not this one) with crytic 'one-liners' and so no reply was ever expected.. Unless, he was ordered not too offer comment... then or now I wonder what the 8 would make of that, if that is indeed the case
  9. Isn't John Goodlad also the Chairman of Shetland Catch Ltd
  10. It appears, all that has happened in the bobdahog case, is that he forgot to Road Tax the vehicle... The intention it seems, was that the vehicle was always to be driven on public roads and not stuffed away in some byre at da back o da hoose or in the West Dock Museum. Result: Fine levied legally on bobdahog and for him to thank his lucky stars, there was no mishap with the car, requiring an insurance claim to be made....
  11. Ok, you're law-abiding and I accept that. However the responsibility to renew your car-tax remained yours - and yours alone... What about e-mail or even paper & pen. While your vehicle remained untaxed, surely your car insurance would also be invalid
  12. Why did you not make a phonecall from overseas for temporary disposition? So, the authorities actually came to your home, but ONLY after you returned to Shetland? I think, on your return home, you were caught driving without a current Road-Tax. The alternative of course was to have contacted Politically_Right
  13. The list of 'believers' is now standing at 5 The Question is: Did Stuart make his latest posting in Shetlink dated 3rd April, 2011 available in advance to his subscribers and followers I think not....
  14. Okay Graeme, You saw Goering as well - good docudrama. Whit happens if suddenly (god forbid) 4 or even 5 followers come into view.... Whit wid you call that
  15. Oh, Oh there appears to be more than two supporters Kavi Ugl. Graeme_Storey. Spinner72 I wonder who are are the other Seventeen - (who it was claimed), signed the Declaration of Redemption of Sovereignty back on the 21st June, 2010 I have nothing against peaceful change (and there are plenty of changes required) and to working within the present laws to achieve that aim and to keep it transparent, not hidden. PS - congrats to Spinner72 on becoming a Mod.
  16. ^^ Quite right Paulb..... Meanwhile, perhaps Politically_Right could be roped in to advise stuarthill on his future dealings with the Police and other Government Agencies..... What is it they say? One is just a Nutter. Two could become a Movement..
  17. Hi Politically_Right, Have you changed your address yet, or even your Country Just windered
  18. I haven't heard anything about this before. Is this an example of 'Local Governance by Stealth' Anyway, just get on with it. If it gets the Lady Councillor out of taxis, it should pay for itself in no time at all.
  19. No, but it might be an ould sixeern for Sanjay and Jose to pose in front of at the next big give-away
  20. OMG, just what has been released here I Quote from Politically_Right - as written within his /her posts: "It amuses me" "I have Privacy and Freedom, which allows me to do as I please" "I am lucky enough, to be in a total position of power when dealing with the police" Formerly of Whalsay or could it be Forvik
  21. It doesn't bother me in the slightest if you don't fill out the census form. However, it does bother me that your advice sound or otherwise may be followed by some who incur fines from following your lead and you will be nowhere to be seen. Then again anyone who follows advice from someone who infers they are a solicitor on an internet forum needs their head read. Politically_Right previously used the term "critical synopsis". I haven't heard this for a very long time. It makes me think that he/she is possibly a post-grad in Law and working for a Legal Firm as a Clerk in Conveyancing for a couple of years or so. If he/she is a qualified solicitor mmmm. The two posts included above show really excellent responses. PS - Ok, so I invoked a warning regarding T&C's. Was that really more serious than what Politically_Right was advocating
  22. You obviously don't belong in the conspiracy theorist's camp then, seeing as you just handed the Government on a plate, your IP address linked to your name and home address. CLASSIC Ghosty
  23. Indeed - that is why I included "if". Indeed - that is why the provenence of this should be clarified.
  24. ^ In my previous post, I was going to ask if Politically_Right was a student studying law. (I had noted his/her location as 'previously Whalsay') But it's worse than i thought, as it now appears he/she is a qualified lawyer, specialising in Commercial and Contract law, but dispensing advice to friends and co-workers, involving an area he/she probably knows damn all about. As for name calling, who says I am wrong, but I will maybe have to take some others advice on that. As for trying to start an 'adolescent' arguement, thank you, that could take years off of me.
