  1. The Owens have worked hard for 28 years to provide an essential service to the people of Shetland. In that time they have built a viable business, and with Alan retiring, for health reasons, they must surely now have the right to sell their business. By so doing they would only be doing what is best for their patients. Is it unreasonable to expect that their landlord, Shetland Health Board, should also consider the welfare of those patients, and do everything possible to assist the Owens in their attempts to pass on their business? The alternative must be to close the doors of the practice in September, something the Alan and Michelle have made every effort to avoid having to do. It seems to me that the Owens can't win. If they try to sell the practice they are accused of being out to make money. If they simply close the doors they are branded as being uncaring. Grossly unfair, as I'm sure all Alan's patients will agree. The public must now fear for the future of dental service in Shetland
  2. Black Eagle wrote Shetland library members, and anyone who comes into the library, can call up any newspaper article using the NewsUk resource. Articles can be printed off or emailed to anyone you like along with an accompanying message. There are many articles in many papers on Sakchai, and you can view them all. Library members can do this on any computer, non members need to do it on a library computer. It's a great way to see everything that has been written, even includes some letters of support. All national papers are covered as are many local papers. But not Shetland Times. If you need any help with this let me know.
  3. Caroline B - Can't make Clickimin on Saturday, have to work, but happy to donate bag of 50p's for attending bairns to have some fun with. Who should I give them too? In Lerwick every day, maybe someone could collect from library Friday or Saturday? Or should I hand them in at Clickimin? Cali
  4. E-mail from Angus Robertson's campaign manager. He is in Turkey with a parliamentary committee but will sign the EDM immediatly he returns.
  5. Just had e mail from David Laws saying he had signed EDM. Still struggling on through the list. Group 3 done, group 2 done, half way through group 3. Problem with Alex Salmond - e-mail came back with address as undeliverable. Can anyone help on this one?
  6. Letter to Alexandra Bartrope on it's way south. Copy can be provided for the team if needed. Will spend the next hour or so sending e-mails to those still to sign the EDM. Still waiting for Mr Reid to reply to my e-mails, even though I pointed out that failure to send at least an acknowledgment was at best discourteous and at worst down right rude.... It does take time to get down to all this e-mailing, but it so important that we keep up the pressure. Best wishes to Sakchai and the team
  7. Delighted with the news that bail has been granted. Now we just have to trust to the legal team and keep up our support. Lets hope that justice will be done and Sakchai can get on with his life.
  8. Does someone have the best address to use to write to Sakchai? It might encourage people to write if they can see the address on here too. (Unless it already is and I've missed it)
  9. Hi everyone, I've not posted a message on this till now, but I've been keeping track, and signed the petitions etc. Just want to say well done to everyone involved for the progress so far, and I hope loads of folk can turn out for the rally in the morning - it may be at 6am but will it really hurt anyone to get up for that just once? Do it for Sakchai! See you there, Jenny
  10. What has happened to Sakchai is a disgrace and a sad reflection on our society. I have signed the e-petition, e-mailed alisair carmichael and john reid and will do anything else I can to support the campaign to allow him to come home. Sakchai is an easy target in this governments efforts to notch up statistics. The people who really do pose a threat to society are much harder to find.
