  1. Well where the blooming heck has the snow down here been coming from all week then? Dunno mate... haha... apparently Aberdeenshire has been getting quite a bit of snow... maybe heading up... i just judged it by how it looked... it started looking very heavy and you could barely see over the hills... you know when it gets really misty and that... well yeah, thats what it looked like over the North area.
  2. Road Report: Brae: 9:35pm: Has been snowing heavily on & off since my last post. Roads are now pure white. Storm seems to be coming from the North heading South. PLEASE take care on those roads. I here Tingwall roads are quite bad with drifting.
  3. Road Report: Brae: ALL BRAE roads are completely clear with NO SNOWFALL since the Early Hours.
  4. Yes they probably will be. Hasnt snowed once here in Brae since the early hours of this morning. Also, roads are clear and i have been told it hasnt snowe anywhere between Brae and where the teachers live, my guess is, they are open. Unfortunately... REMINDER: ALL LERWICK SCHOOLS are closed Friday & Monday as it is an occasional holiday.
  5. ALL SCHOOLS in Shetland are closed today due to the weather.
  6. ALL SCHOOLS in Shetland are closed today due to the weather.
  7. been snowing heavily here in Brae for the past 15 minutes or so, all black patches on the road have been covered... Dont know about anywhere else, just thought i'd let you know
  8. Well had one last look at the Shetland News website to see if it says anything about School Closures but no word as of yet, so i guess it will be a case of listening to the radio in the morning. I personally think the schools will be closed, on the main roads in Brae there must be atleast over 5inches of snow and Lerwick is looking quite bad also. My brother works in Scalloway and he finished at Half 5 and only got home at Half 7 as the roads between Scalloway and Brae are grim... REMINDER: Just want to remind you that most Northern Schools such as Brae and Mossbank will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday 23rd) due to the Northern Up-Helly-Aa. Schools are to open as normal Wednesday unless of course the snow closes them. Thankyou.
  9. Well the main headlines for tonight right through to tomorrow night is to pretty much be the same... Heavy Snow and Widepsread Icy Roads... It is supposed to carry on with very heavy snow till about midnight tonight where it will then begin to ease but quite a few snow showers will still carry on falling... The snow is supposed to carry on through Tuesday possibly getting heavier at times and more and more frequent but a few Sunny Spells may also come along. It is supposed to pretty much stay the same for the rest of the week but becoming less frequent during Wednesday Night... Mostly Sunny Spells during Thursday but turning to snow once again during the night and staying the same for Friday. A mainly unsettled week ahead of us.
  10. Thanks for that xoni, i was worried to post the bit about Mossbank as i was worried in case i was wrong... i just put it in because one of my friends told me it was quite bad up there! Thanks!
  11. The Roads between Brae and Vidlin are in VERY SERIOUS CONDITIONS at this time. The snow started to fall at 5:30pm and started getting heavier throughout the hour. It started to fall very badly at about 5:45pm and is still going now... It doesn't seem to want to clear up. There is about 5-6 inches of snow on the main roads at this time. All roads are VERY hazardous... Main roads and ESPECIALLY side roads. I ask you all to PLEASE be VERY CAREFUL and CAUTIOUS if entering Vidlin or Brae. Mossbank is told to be bad aswell but as i live in Brae it is unknown to me. Please take all of this in and be very careful when travelling around the Brae area. Thankyou. Hope this helps you all.
