  1. Adrian/Smeg, guys let us know if theres anything i can do for the sponsored match. I think you have my email address but if not then its rorybinns@hotmail.com. I have quite a few old up helly aa costumes if anyone needs and i still think it'd be good to have everyone out after the game for a few pints whilst heading round the pubs with some collection buckets. Be good to show the campaign team a good night whilst still doing our bit
  2. Hi, i was one of the guys who went down to clickimin earlier today and i as really impressed with the turn out, so thanks to everyone who made it down, especially all the kids who made the effort. I don't know how many of you were up since 6am watching GMTV but the first broadcast at 6.30am had the most amount of people and unfortunately the numbers went down for each broadcast after with folk needing to head to work/school or whatever so the broadcast at 8am maybe only had a half or 2 thirds of the folk who were there at 6! but still a fantastic turnout i'm sure you'll agree. Also just wanted to mention that the last time i saw Sakchai was the day before his smash n grab, and he was his usual happy go lucky self, wandering about the street. What i realise now was that he was wearing his SCOTLAND strip! he was always seen around in that and i find that a huge tragedy in that he possibly faces never staying here again. How ironic is that? Governement, get a grip on reality and do the right thing here! Get him back to Shetland and show some compassion and common sense for a change
  3. This whole incident is sickening and i truly hope that we'll have Sakchai back on our shores shortly. I've emailed John Reid, the BBC website and everyone in my contacts book and urge anyone who hasn't yet done so, to do the same. I'm sure that there can't be many who haven't yet shown their support though! Much respect and many thanks to Davey, Richie and everyone else for co-ordinating the campaign. I do hope Sakchai knows the level of support he has up here and that the he's back where he clearly belongs soon. It truly is scandalous. Rory Binns email to John Reid I am absolutely outraged at the removal of Sakchai Makao from his home in the Shetland Islands. He is a trusted and valuable member of the community, well liked and popular and the very fact that he was given his job back by the local council after his incarceration shows in how high regard he was, and continues to be held. How can a young Shetland man be punished twice for a crime he commited several years ago, whilst drunk and completely out of character? He served his time and is a glowing example of a man successfully re-integrating himself into society after spending time in prison. He should not be used as a way to get the statistics up, in an attempt to get some much needed good publicity, after a series of recent catastrophic errors by the Home Office. I ask you is it right that this young man, who has represented not only the Shetland Isles, but Scotland to, in athletics, be ejected from the country, back into Thailand, having not lived there in 13 years, being unable to speak the language, and having no friends or family there and expect him fend for himself? It's absolutely abhorrent what is taking place and the whole of Shetland will fight for his return. I urge you to log on to the www.shetlink.com website where not only you will see the level of support he has, but the level of shock and disgust at this incident amongst the local community. Rory Binns
