  1. One thing to bear in mind if its the hdd, the drives in the sky boxes are optimised for video recording. What this means is that the error correcting that is present in normal drives is absent to stop glitches in the recording. There are companies on the net which specialise in the drives. They also do upgrades (larger drives).
  2. I went to do the upgrade to 7 and then found out I couldn't upgrade from Vista Home Premium to 7 Professional, so I had to wipe my drive to do it. Thankfully I set up the laptop with 3 partitions (system, data, temporary files) so replacing vista was a doddle. I did, however, forget to backup my firefox bookmarks, so I'm trying to remember where I actually go on the internet (turns out I don't seem to need the bookmarks anyway). That's because you can't upgrade between different editions like that. You can only upgrade to like-for-like versions. I.e.: Home Premium to Home Premium, Pro to Pro etc. This also applies for 32bit and 64bit. If you have the retail version then you can do as I did above. I upgraded from vista home to win7 pro. This is not a true upgrade as it just saves the entire contents of your vista installation to a folder. 32bit to 64bit may be a problem with this.
  3. There is an option when installing win 7, to save all of your vista installation to a folder on your hard drive. It's then just a case of moving it all to the relevant places and deleting the folder. Not sure if this was just because I had the retail box version.
