Hi Lucy, there seems to be some confusion as to ticks (ixodes ricinus) and sheep keds(melophagus ovinus) they are two seperate species.I have often seen keds in shetland but never ticks.  I have seen a dog picking up a lot of ticks on its coat after running through deep heather and bracken, near Rackwick on Hoy, Orkney. Thanks v much for the info about the Westside, ShetlandCars - where exactly do you get most of the ticks, and would you mind if I came along some time in July with my little white blanket to try to catch some? (I drag it on the ground and the ticks (hopefully) cling on). (I am near Skeld).

Thanks everybody for yor replies.  We have decided to take it back to a Curry's store.  It is brand new and shouldn't really have that problem.  It's funny it works when she logs on and then stops working which makes me think it is something to do with the windows but I may be wrong.  Anyway never had this problem wi a laptop before and seems strange as the laptop is new.

Log in as another user and see if it still happens, also try putting the laptop back to factory settings(this will wipe all user files and settings), usually F12 I think as soon as you switch it on.

George Robertson's do offer a repairs service, not necessarily just to items purchased from their shop, they only have a few electricians so it may be a while before they can come for a look. You could also try Appliance Rescue in Brae - 01806 522844

Isn't that a repair service only to products they have sold?

As with most privately run websites, advertising revenue is the income stream that allows us to provide Shetlink as a principally free service to users. No advertising revenue = no way to pay for server space, bandwidth, software licenses or development costs = no Shetlink. Simple as.

 

Please bear that in mind when using, or advocating the use of, ad blockers.

As a previous business owner, I had zero success trying to give you lot money in return for advertising you just weren't interested, has there been a change at the top? A coup d'état?

I would look for someone FMB registered and reputable, especially if you're not going to be here during it. Unfortunately most good contractors need to be booked in well in advance, can be up to 12 months.

Doesn't seem to show just those that can build a house though, rather as just a builder?
