With regards to the last post the amount of properties Hjaltland build. This will have nothing to do with the salaries paid to their staff as this is set down by a national organisation. If this was the case I'd still be working there

What ever happened to getting a Saturday job. I know that me and the majority of folk in my year all got a Saturday job in one of the local shops. This would surely help.

HHA are building outwith Lerwick. At the moment they are building in Sandwick. And there are plans for Yell, Burra, Scalloway and Eshaness, to name but a few. Lerwick, however, is the area where the vast majority of the people want to be housed. So HHA have to build there to try and reduce the ever growing number on the "waiting list"

I must agreed totally with Hollian's last post. And I know that HHA doesn't have the same obligation as the SIC to house homeless people, because they are not local authority. So the idea of somebody coming off the boat and walking straight into a HHA house just doesn't happen. It just feels that HHA is getting tarred with the same brush as the SIC.

Angel, I used to work at Hjaltalnd and I just wanted to see if I could help in any way. I appreciate that you said you understand Hjaltland don't operate with a waiting list. But have you been applying for any of the properties they advertise in the Shetland Times? That is one of the things a lot of the applicants didn't seem to understand was that HHA would not contact them when a suitable property came up. Also what groups have you been allocated points in? Just reading your post you should be allocated points for Overcrowding (group 4) and Insecure Tenancy (group 5). If this is not the case I suggest you contact them to update your application. Can I also suggest that you ask the SIC about being put forward as a nomination for one of HHA's properties. Because you have been given notice from your current home it is in their interests to stop you becoming homeless. I hope this is of some help, if you have any other questions I will try to answer them as best I can.
