ladydocha
Is any one aware of a grave stone in Shetland that had a maori carving added to it in the sixties. The grave was of a shetland man killed in the second world war. The above, sadly, is all the information I have.
shetlandpeat
I recently took pictures of all the war related headstones at the New Cemetry in Lerwick, and have looked through them and cannot see any that fit your description, but I may have missed one or two. Below are a couple of links that may help, the first is the family history website, the second is directory on Shetland and her many features, you will also find many of my images there. I will PM you the link to where I store them for those that are not posted on Shetlopedia.. Good luck http://bayanne.info/Shetland/ http://shetlopedia.com/Main_Page

MuckleJoannie
You could also try the Shetland Family History Society. They have volunteers who have a wide knowledge of this type of thing. http://www.shetland-fhs.org.uk/
nautim
You could also try the Shetland Family History Society. They have volunteers who have a wide knowledge of this type of thing. At one time they were trying to collate a list of all the gravestones in each kirkyard, complete with inscriptions. I think the idea was to produce booklets with the information.
