hi Scorrie if you contact the office then they arrange for it to be picked up. However if your car is drivable and just need scrapped then drive in and you get £20.00 for it. I would just like to say that 60 North wrote to all the community councils offering free skips for any metal scrap also we pick up cars and dispose of them as per the Car Take Back Scheme. We have had up to now three communities get back to us. one in yell which we sent up 2 skips and are in the process of picking up the full ones and replacing with empty. These will get weighed in to our yard and the community council will receive payment for the metal received. There for putting money back into community projects. The other community council is the Lerwick one which we are dealing with at the moment. where best to put the skips and how many. However we also know that there will be fly tipping and this in turn will not help either of us cos then we have to pay the council to dispose of general waste. Finally Sandwick allotments was put into this scheme and it helped to get rid of the waste they had.
