  1. I recently bought items from Amazon and was amazed at how fast delivery was and how cheap to deliver too. Ordered my items on the Friday and by Monday most had arrived... I ordered a pram which was bulky and heavy - only cost £12 to deliver... I ordered a heater from Argos in Shetland cost me the £5.00 odds for shipping.. then on top of that £18.00 more on shipping for Northwards to get it here. Must add this took over a month!! We are well ripped off here in Sheltand by local companies. No wonder we shop South!!!
  2. Shetland's rabbit population has only "Man" as the main predator. Therefore over rabbit generations their natural colour range has been able to flourish without selective reduction as happens on the mainland. That's why we see black and other variations of colour of the common rabbit. It is nothing to do with "pet rabbits" being released into the wild.
  3. I thought getting Tesco would be quite good, beneficial to us on Shetland. As the weeks go on I see the prices jumping up to just below the Co's prices. Last week I bought organic butter .. this week I refused to buy it as it had jumped 30p.. Other things including Heinz Tomato Sauce, Tesco Organic Tomato Sauce as examples .. have accumulated an extra 20 or 30 pence on the original price.. Fair Trade tea bags were £1.10 .. we thought this brill.. Now up to the same price as the Co.. They are now taking the mick. Didn't take long!! Will now be back shopping at the Co!!
  4. In defence of Snow at Firth ( used to stay there) Last year Firth's Voe was contaminated with sewage. But alarmingly no residents were informed of this. Although the "clique" that runs the Tenants Association or formerly FMTRA at 41 Sandside Firth.. Were well aware of the situation. Having had discussions with the Council. But failed to to inform the residents of Sandside. It wasn't until SEPA signs were put up... That we were officially warned of the danger. Although the Tenants Association had known this for weeks.
  5. The Perseids Meteor Shower peaks on the 12 August.. Best viewed into the early hours of the morning!!! Have seen a good few meteors over the last few days... So weather permitting hopefully a good shower this year!!
  6. Does nobody see.. the owners are using the Shetland weather to strip it of paint... Although it's taken a while... Money saving!! Once its stripped it will reveal a Nordic Pine Hotel fit for Tourists.. Instead of a slum as it looks now... only fit for drunk workers pissing their beds!!
  7. Can't sleep.. Only one more sleep to Monday... So exciting!! No doubt it will be for nought!! By Tuesday we will all be moaning!!
