  1. Just back from St Ninians isle, how imprest I am at the amount of rubbish that has been left by the South Mainland Up Helly Aa. Cant wait until next year for even more rubbish to be left cluttering up the area.
  2. COPS ARGHHH! Well no actualy, I thought I would tell you about a recent experience I had with a pair of cops on Tingwall Straights after I got stopped speeding. I was followed and stopped after driving at a considerable speed over the speed limit. On being stopped I was told of the offence and the relevant procedures were explained and I was duly told I had 3 points and a £60 fine. A problem to most but not to me the cop doing the chatting (because it was all friendly stuff) stated "Sorry about this mate but you have just been unlucky, we were in the wrong place at the wrong time". No problem I replied it's OK, now thinking back he made me feel guilty for me making him do his job. I hope you are somewhat confused because the moral of this story is I was delat with in a civil manner not spoken down to and not bollucked for my wrong doing. The cop was a total star and as for his co-pilot she was a bit of alright too just goes to show that some of the guys are only normal and have a difficult job to do. Now I am off to pay my fine almost money well spent given the banter I received.
  3. Ghostrider were art though for this post has been open for over an hour and you have not managed to post a random reply! I hope yopu are OK or have you just realised that the people ain't listening to ya!
  4. I have just been along Hansen and he says "IT CANNA WORK FOR THE RABBITS EITHER THE MESH SIZE IS JUST NO DAMN USE"
  5. Spoke with 'Big Dave' down at the harbour this afternoon he was saying he may apply for the cheif executive job. When I asked why? He simply replied 'I have nothing else to do with my time at the moment and the banter up there is swell'. Good luck in whatever you do Dave I am sure you will be fine
  6. Tiggerfairy, It would appear you are right. It does say that the operator should be within 10 feet of the road, any chance you can pass it on to your colleagues at the hillhead. So that they can play fair and stop using the hide and seek method of racking up their figures.
  7. Tiggerfairy, I can only find an ACPO document on the subject can you post me a thread for ACPOS or do the Scottish Police use the english one as the Road Traffic and Offenders Act is a British Law and not a unique thing to Scottish Islands
  8. Over recent weeks I have seen the Police sitting in cars keeping nice and warm whilst they have a camera stuck to one eye. This is them doing speeders (is it) If you type the following into Google - ACPO Code of Practice for Operational use of Enforcement Equipment you will see the police guidelines for doing speeders which clearly states the officers have to be out of the vehicle. Elsewhere on the internet there are clear guidelines on where speed detection should be carried out i.e accident black spots, when was the last accident on the south end of the Tingwall Straights where you always see the cops boosting their figures. Although I have never been charged for speeding I wonder if I took the above doucment to court if my conviction would be thrown out.
  9. I thought it was about time that we held a discussion about the pubs in Lerwick as the owners don't seem tp see the decay that is before them. For example has anybody seen the state on the carpets in the Noost, surely they are a Health Hazard!
  10. Just wondering if anybody had any views about the pubs in Shetland. After all I think the carpet in the Noost is well overdue for a good clean or maybe even replacing! (*** Mod- merged ***)
