  1. You are spot on Kirsty - sincerely hope Boyd never has to play for Scotland again. That he might says more about the lack of goalscoring talent Scotland has available
  2. If John Jamieson can bring to the Shetland team the stability and organisation that Delting have had over the last umpteen years then all power to him. Surely there is more chance of Boyd playing for Scotland again than John Johnston returning as Shetland Manager!!
  3. I would say this has been one of the best managed roads jobs - minimal disruption to traffic until absolutely necessary and now lights that are sympathetic to the predominant traffic flow. Well done to the Council and the contractors with this one.
  4. The competition is called the SFA Challenge Cup and ties are due to be played on 9th August. Can anyone from Shetland Football Association confirm that date?
  5. Shetland away to Fort William who finished bottom of Highland League last season - played 28 won 1, lost 27, goals for 16, goals conceded 158, points 3. Surely a game Shetland can (must) win?
  6. Rangers probably have more "supporters who are bampots" than my team have supporters in total. The only way for Scottish football to move forward is for Rangers and Celtic to get out of it.It might hurt 10 or so teams for a short time but in the long run will be much better for everyone (including the "Old Firm"). A restructuring without Celtic and Rangers of 2 leagues of 20 , possibly reducing to 2 of 16 should be sustainable and of course Rangers and Celtic wouldn't be eligible for Europe as Scottish representatives (in same way as Cardiff were to miss out had they won FA cup). Wonder how long Gordon Smith, Chic Young, Jim Traynor et al would continue to bother us should that happen - good riddance I say!
  7. I will be interested to hear how many Rangers "supporters" are actually banned from Ibrox (and hopefully every other ground) as Mr Murray states he will do if identified as causing trouble in Manchester. My guess is not many
  8. Diesel 124.9 in Inverness today - a minimum of 15p a litre cheaper than Shetland (that's about 67p a gallon!)
  9. certainly one quality lacking in most supporters of the team from Govan is humility
  10. absolutely right Frankie. All those who are quick to criticise the Council or its staff might want to consider for a moment the effect on the local economy (and dare I say it, some of their jobs)should the council drastically reduce spending and/or lay off a lot of staff. Shetland would soon be back to the days of the late 60's when population was at 17,500, young folk who could left Shetland and the rest survived on fishin, croftin and knittin

agree with you 100% moorit. Just a thought, if it had been one of the lesser names in the Whalsay team would the ref have done different - he had no problem booking the 18 year old Hodge earlier for what was a dubious foul (Whalsay scored from resultant free kick) It must be really frustrating when the ref has such an influence on the result - that being said though I have never seen such a poorly taken penalty in a long time. Without Monty at the back Whalsay would have struggled - his experience came out top against Wilson's pace and directness. Also Ian Simpson scored and had 2 goal line clearances for Whalsay. One of best games I have seen in a while
  12. posted on the greenock morton unofficial forum 'general nonsense' section - interesting responses. some 260-odd views in less than a day. can only help in raising awareness.
  13. Don't usually post but having at last had the opportunity to read through all the correspondence just had to say that the sentiments expressed, the clear ability to recognise right from wrong, the willingness of folk to give of their time and their money to help others, the ingenuity applied, the commitment, the camaraderie displayed, the political nouse used are all things that makes Shetland the place it is - only it won't be as good without Sakchai being here too. These are all attributes the Labour government could well do with - they are sadly lacking at the moment, so come on Blair , Reid et al GET A GRIP AND RETURN SAKCHAI NOW ps Davie du is one hell of a committed guy - we need more lik dee.
