  1. Anyone from around the Lerwick area or the south end wont really be affected by the windfarm, so if you are from these parts, and slag off people as NIMBYs who live in view of the proposed wind farm, you are a hypocrite yourself. As I have said before, Why are there no plans to erect them around Lerwick and the south end? is it because a greater quantity of NIMBYs exits esp councillors who dont want them in their own backyards? Lets change the plans shall we, lets erect most of them from Bressay, all around Stainy hill, Sandy loch, Gulberwick right the way down to the south end. Less peat to disturb Closer to the point of use thus less wastage due to losses. easier access smaller land mass so a far steadier wind thus more profitable. Cheaper to build due to access. The real reason, toonie and south end NIMBYs.
  2. Obviously not all police are guilty of breaking the law, or at times acting with unnecessary aggression towards the public (bullying), some are actually good people with a soul, but the percentage that are a bit chippy towards us, and have no personal respect for the law is too high, in my opinion. If the police want to get an idea of how the public perceive them so they can improve themselves, why do they not carry out a bi annual survey, just mail out a questionnaire with a space for comments to everyone in the area they represent, if they are serious about keeping the peace, protecting the public and giving a good and fair service then they have nothing to worry about.
  3. More evidence of state bullies attacking him http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/16/ian-tomlinson-g20-photographs Now at least 140 complaints lodged by protesters for various assaults. Lets hope some good comes from this, a shake up in the police force is long overdue.
  4. Just make sure the cable is heavy enough, copper is copper the sound will be exactly the same, just make sure your ends are terminated cleanly free from oxidisation, 2.5mm2 is usually more than enough Nice amp by the way
  5. I would expect them to restrain the man and cuff him immediately, read him his rights and be put under arrest. He committed an assault on an innocent man, which led to death, there is no excuse for turning a blind eye to what he did. All the officers that were present there should be arrested, sacked and punished for condoning an unprovoked attack which in turn led to his death.
  6. If we are not critical of their behaviour, they end up a law unto themselves, which is ever more self evident. If we are to remain a civilised society, our police force must be civilised too, they should be a prime example for the rest of us in terms of honesty, integrity and fairness. Officers who abuse their powers to massage their ego, or hit government targets etc should be sacked and sent to prison, but no.. they usually seem to stick up for one another, therein lies the problem. It takes a certain 'type' of personality to join the police force, to protect and serve is not always the motivation.
  7. Gordons finest bullyboys at it again I see. We have to remember, they are nothing more than servants of the state, state employed fine collectors, violence the weapon of choice.
  8. Some o da shetlun black seed sold is niver dat at all, more lik orkney blacks, da right shetlun black has a mauve ring around the flesh just aboot 1/4 inch under the skin, and dey are roond in shape, nearly a shiny black colour. Dir no aye easy ta grow, dont use too much nitrogen, or dey all sproot into shows, plenty o seaweed is about the best for dem. If you want a reliable crop without da blight spray, go for da sarpo mira, guaranteed big crops, blight resistant, they taste better after the second year when day adapt ta de grund.
  9. Another thing, why are all the turbines to be at the mid/north of the islands?, why dont we put most of them nearer the point of use, from stainy hill right down to Sumburgh? Less peat to contend with, less losses on the interconnection, easier access, more steady winds due to less land mass... The real reason I think there is no turbines to be sited in the south/lerwick area etc is NIMBY'ism.
  10. also expect interest rates to rise in the coming years once the worst of this recession passes, that probably would wipe out a fair chunk of the profits.
  11. well at least he begins to scratch the surface of a retaliation on the lies, blatant inaccuracies and hyperbowl that Gordon and his cronies spew forth every time they open their mouths. As far as i'm aware it's his own opinion, you can either agree or disagree with it, I cant see how you came to this conclusion "obviously done it's job in telling people what their opinion should be" We form our own opinions, many agree with him, thats why the speech has gone down so well. labour will probably get hammered at the next election.
  12. We were bieng invaded! its a totally different thing, I would have been fighting as there was a very valid cause. Morals are morals, just because our 'elected' leaders say the cause is just does not make it morally right.
  13. I agree, it sticks out like huge ugly karbunkle, looks like a big square ugly industrial building, oh well, it might look better after we get our new wind turbine forest splattered all over the place, it'll draw the eyes away from it not to mention the hideous new AHS,
  14. If everyone had good morals, there would be no war in Iraq, as no one would sign up to fight in it. If you decide to fight in these sort of 'wars', you deem what you are doing as moral, it's self evident or you would simply not sign up, its that simple. If the government was going to force me to fight in Iraq, I would refuse, I would rather go to prison and keep a clear conscience. If you deem something is immoral then you simply dont do it, or you make the choice to live the rest of your life with the burden of what you have done, which is one of the reasons why I think so many go off the rails when they come back.
  15. Well I wont be getting any privileges then, I will never join the forces, unless were being attacked on our own soil, the whole contract killing thing is not for me.
  16. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/eco_deb_ext-economy-debt-external http://www.indexmundi.com/g/r.aspx?t=100&v=94 We are up to our necks, second only to the US while having 1/4 the US population, the Internal debt is worse than is reported due to PFI and the bailouts etc. We will see who is worst off when the dust settles http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_and_finance/article5989746.ece
  17. Those things really are bloody massive Since its obvious that we sometimes get 200+mph winds here, that could easily flatten these things, wonder how much will it cost to insure them? must be a massive risk for the insurer, that will no doubt be reflected in the price.
  18. When they are queueing at the soup kitchen I imagen. Edit...., looks like soup kitchens are are going to get popular very soon, >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2qDW34Fr64 Holy sh#*t.. considering we are in a much worse situation than the US, god knows how this is going to pan out.
  19. Its gone viral 1.1 million hits in 2 days, BBC & ITV under attack for calling a blackout on the story. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/gordon-brown/5056568/Questions-for-BBC-and-ITV-over-Daniel-Hannan-speech-coverage.html A clear example of ZaNulabours propaganda machine in full swing. "“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.†(Joseph Gobbels.)
