MJ
Islesburgh Snooker Tables are sorely missed. It was good venue for parents to teach their kids how to play.
piggywiggie
I'm still not convinced about skate park. Something totally different than poolsnooker skatepark, etc would be nice, but what's the chances?!
danzig
Well it seems to me that the way things seem to go in shetland is that whatever is made will have to be something that can make as many people happy as poss. now as said before the Skate Asosiation has money already and the council has the buildings to make a fantastic indoor park. Now this is only the start Transition Extreme in ABZ is alot rolled in to one with shops world class climbing centre cafe and there are many rooms upstairs used for any activitys for all ages including practic areas for young bands etc. the youth of shetland are the ones loosing out there seems to be to many people focusing on PUB! sports now is that really what we want to encourage?? not for my kids thats for sure (nothing against people who enjoy these sports) there is a real chance to make a difference here lets listen to the children!! thnx Danzig
Bcorp
Very good point. A little fact for you all, when Unit23 skatepark opened in Dumbarton, youth crime dropped by 55% in 3 years...Not bad.
Guest Anonymous
maybe lottery funding could help social clubs in village halls promote snooker , pool, darts etc , kinda thing folk actually do anyway Yeah excellent idea, use the money for something useful like this which is popular in the whole Shetland especially the villages and isles, instead of a skateboard ramp or something which will be used by 5 people twice. benefit of the boubt, maybe use it 1 summer
