Any numpty can publish an opinion on the web. If you want to seriously pursue study of physics at this level I feel it is common sense to start with a solid proven foundation of what has been already established.

The Pyramid is located at the exact center of the Earth's land mass. That is, its East-West axis corresponds to the longest land parallel across the Earth, passing through Africa, Asia, and America. Similarly, the longest land meridian on Earth, through Asia, Africa, Europa, and Antarctica, also passes right through the Pyramid. Since the Earth has enough land area to provide 3 billion possible building sites for the Pyramid, the odds of it's having been built where it is are 1 in 3 billion.

The average height of land above sea level (Miami being low and the Himalayas being high), as can be measured only by modern-day satellites and computers, happens to be 5,449 inches. That is the exact height of the Pyramid.

All four sides of the Pyramid are very slightly and evenly bowed in, or concave. This effect, which cannot be detected by looking at the Pyramid from the ground, was discovered around 1940 by a pilot taking aerial photos to check certain measurements. As measured by today's laser instruments, all of these perfectly cut and intentionally bowed stone blocks duplicate exactly the curvature of the earth. The radius of this bow is equal to the radius of the Earth. This radius of curvature is what Newton had long been seeking.

Each of the Pyramids four walls, when measured as a straight line, are 9,131 inches, for a total of 36,524 inches. At first glance, this number may not seem significant, but move the decimal point over and you get 365.24. Modern science has shown us that the exact length of the solar year is 365.24 days.

How's that for a solid foundation? 8)

Did the Egyptians use Imperial measurements?

Rubbish: firstly the radius of the curvature of the Earth varies since the Earth bulges slightly at the Equator. Secondly, the radius of the Earth had been measured by Greek astronomers centuries before Newton was born.

Among those intrigued by the incredible accuracy of the Pyramid's construction was the great scientist and mathematician Sir Isaac Newton. Attemping to formulate his famous law of gravity, Newton needed to know the diameter of the Earth. However, in the 1600's no measurement was accurate enough, especially since Newton theorized that the Earth's spin would cause an equatorial bulge. Having heard legends claiming that knowledge of the Earth, the past, and the future were contained in the Pyramid, Newton set out to investigate.

After studying the detailed measurements made by the investigators before him, Newton recognized that many key measurements would be in round numbers if the standard unit of measure was just 0.001 (1/1,000) inch larger than the British inch-which just happens to be the Sacred Jewish Inch. (The Sacred Jewish Inch, 1/25 of a cubit, equals 1.00106 British inches.) This discovery allowed the secrets of the Pyramid to be unlocked and revealed unmistakable and mathematical relationships.

Not many people know of an obscure work by the famous Sir Isaac Newton entitled:

"A Dissertation upon the Sacred Cubit of the Jews and the Cubits of several Nations: in which, from the Dimensions of the Greatest Pyramid, as taken by Mr. John Greaves, the ancient Cubit of Memphis is determined".

Newton had an obsession of establishing the value of the "cubit" of the ancient Egyptians. This was no mere curiosity. His Theory of Gravitation was dependent on an accurate knowledge of the circumference of the earth. The only figures he currently had were the inaccurate calculations of Eratosthenes and his followers. With these figures his theory did not work out.

Newton felt that if he could find the exact length of the Egyptian "cubit", this would allow him to find the exact length of their "stadium", reputed by others to bear a relation to a "geographical degree". This measurement, which he needed for his theory of gravitation, he believed to be somehow enshrined in the proportions of the Great Pyramid. Thus, he would have the necessary measurements for his Theory of Gravitation.

He used the measurements of the base of the pyramid arrived by Greaves and Burattini in his calculations. Since there was much accumulated debris at the base of the pyramid, there figures were inaccurate. Thus the false measurements of the base failed to give Newton the answer he was looking for.

Newton did not work on his Theory of Gravitation for the next several years. In 1671, a French astronomer, Jean Picard, accurately measured a degree of latitude to be 69.1 English statute miles. Using these figures, Newton was able to announce his theory of gravitation. It is that all bodies in the universe attract each other in proportion to the product of their mass and inversely proportional to the square of their distance apart.

The pyramids measurements were forgotten for the time being. In the 1800's there was a revival in looking for astronomical and geophysical values enshrined in the Great Pyramid of Giza.

I’m pretty sure you can safely put any pyramid ideas Newton may have had in alongside his well documented occultist, alchemical and mystical ones.

You seem to have omitted a source for this quote. Here it is.

http://www.europa.com/~edge/pyramid.html

It goes on to say

"Clearly, whoever built the Pyramid had access to information beyond that which earthlings possessed at the time, at least earthlings as we know them. Now, one can argue that we were visited by scientifically advanced beings from outer space who taught us their technology. That is possible from the evidence presented, perhaps even likely. If so, these advanced beings had the paramount goal of leaving behind a message that would endure for eons."

Its like that TV show, Stargate.

This pyramid inch business is pretty eccentric if not totally spurious.

^Pretty similar to Einstein then

-----------------------------------------

The actual distance around the base was found to be equal to half of one minute of arc of the Earth’s circumference - which the pyramid’s designers had evidently deemed to be slightly less than our own calculation. Although vindicating Jomard in one respect, the figure did not provide the much-anticipated unit of measure because it was a scaled reference, which would be recognized regardless of the units used to confirm it. But, when the height of the missing apex was added, the result reflected the number of days in a year and also vindicated Piazzi-Smyth. It was this figure, ironically, that supplied an original unit of measure, an increment that was within a few decimal places of one we’d used for much of recorded history – the inch! For many this was confirmation that the pyramid had been designed to attract the attention of those capable of appreciating its mathematical symbolism as opposed to its previously supposed perfection.

The Great Pyramid has been handed down in battered and desecrated condition and the general public now allowed only limited access. Despite a still burning desire to know who built it and why, we are hampered by the events & attitudes of the past, the politics & prejudices of the present, and by a confusing jumble of information that, perhaps, we were intended to uncover in a more logical sequence.

We can no longer marvel at the true size, shape and precision of the pyramid; it has been ravaged by man and the elements for more than a quarter of its known history. We no longer need to search for a hidden entrance or concealed passages because we know exactly where they are. We have no need to explore and measure those passages and chambers because it’s been done for us over and over again. And, largely because we’ve been bombarded by crackpot theory after crackpot theory, we no longer have a desire for anything but concrete facts.

Early in the twentieth century, the Great Pyramid was finally recognized for what it was intended to be - a complex mathematical message aimed at only those who were diligent enough to uncover the subtle clues to its existence. In 1925, after thousands of years in limbo, the pyramid had cleared its throat and uttered a single word – inch. But it has taken us almost a hundred years to realize that the pyramid had spoken, let alone understand the significance of that word.

As of April 2007, pyramid research continues at a furious pace, and the inch continues to play a prominent role, reveal more and more about the pyramid and why it was built. Today, more than ever, research is conducted by thousands of individuals who are completely independent and unfettered by antiquated beliefs and pressure to adhere to old school cronyism.

The Pyramids didn't utter the word inch, people did. For their own reasons, mystical, political or biblical.

In the works of Taylor and Smyth the pi-theory is linked to units of measures,

more particularly the English foot. Here is what Taylor writes:

Indeed most of Taylor's book is devoted, not to the Great Pyramid, but

rather to the question of ancient and modern measures. Taylor's principal aim

is to link English measurements to measurements of the earth and part of his

way of showing this is via the dimensions of the Great Pyramid. As the above

quotation suggests, the pi-theory is used to corroborate the relationship; the

foot is linked to the pyramid and the pyramid is linked to the dimensions of

the earth.

There is still another facet to this story, namely opposition to the introduction

of the French metric system. In the early 1860s attempts were being

made to introduce the metric system in Britain and both Taylor and Smyth

were strongly opposed to these efforts.

In an 1864 article, Smyth wrote:

...Great Pyramid Metrology is? more scientific than the French,? more convenient

than the British,? and yet at the same time altered only very slightly

from the British ... and a very numerous political party has recently moved

in Parliament, to introduce scientific improvements, by no means so great, by

bringing in the French metrical system into this country, and abolishing the

whole of the English hereditary measures, root and branch, by force of law; a

more extensive sweep of despotic power, and pregnant with more confusion

as well as chance of sapping the patriotism of the masses, than anything which

has been attempted in England or Scotland for the last 800 years.

Smyth, in his Our Inheritance in the Great Pyramid, also associates

pyramid measurements with those of the Bible. We are told for example,

that the capacity of Noah's ark was 7,125,000,000 "Pyramid cubic inches"

which is exactly 100,000 times the capacity of the "coffer-box" in the interior

of the Great Pyramid.

Namely this website you are quoting from will publish research that doesn't conform to standard academic practices. See Steve Bedford for the latest pyramid updates relating to The Flood (a la Piazzi-Smyth mentioned above) on their news page.

http://www.gizapyramid.com/news_and_updates.htm

Steve has stated that " the Great Pyramid is directly related to what we refer to as the flood. It is a mathematical message of sorts, and was almost certainly built by those who were victims or survivors of that cataclysm. I believe the great Pyramid was designed with ordinary people in mind and that it has yet to fulfill its true destiny. I also believe the riddle of its presence will be solved by an ordinary Joe or Jane. Naturally, I’d like to be the one, but I’d be more than happy just to know the truth.â€

I have a theory that Joan of Arc was Noah's wife. I'm sure the pyramid can provide evidence with enough number crunching.

Academics aint made much headway sussing it either.

What is definite is that the magnificent pyramids of Giza (built c. 2500 BC) attest to the ancient Egyptians' accurate measuring ability, pointing to advanced knowledge in mathematics or geodesy. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, the greatest single building ever erected, used about 2,300,000 limestone blocks each weighing 2.5 tonnes on average, all precisely cut and none weighing less than two tonnes. Simple calculations show that, since it took 20 years to complete, and assuming eight or 10 hours' labour a day, one block was fitted almost every minute.

In other words, it took about 10 minutes to fit neatly in place seven blocks. This does not take into account the time taken to pave or demolish the ramp as it was built up all the way to the top of the pyramid, according to the general theory. Building and demolishing such a ramp would not only have required 500,000 workmen, but this alone would have taken the whole of Khufu's reign. Nor does it account for the time spent levelling the rocky site, nor for the time taken to position the nine granite blocks of 50 tonnes each constituting the inside of the royal chamber, nor the time to cover the whole edifice with the 115,000 pieces of fine limestone casing, some of which weighed more than 16 tonnes. An experiment funded by the Nissan Company in 1979, in which a Japanese team tested the feasibility of building a scale model of the Great Pyramid using new technology, was abandoned after it was found it would take 1,000 years to finish.

The Great Pyramid is so well planned that it is perfectly aligned with the earth's four cardinals. more so than any known building, past or present. No wonder that it has been the most studied architectural object in the world. Vast literature is still produced in order to expose another view, measurement, or another theory that will explain the rationale or non-rationale of this ancient mystery. It stood as the most majestic and mysterious monument ever erected by man on the face of earth.

The pyramids raise many riddles waiting to be resolved. As centuries unfold, their mystery becomes more and more puzzling, not only in how the ancient Egyptians were capable of building such colossal monuments, but also with such an astounding speed and splendour. They have stood in the Nile Valley for 5,000 years. As was once said: "Man fears time, yet time fears the pyramids."

They'll be telling us they floated them blocks in next.

What the hell has this got to do with Einstein and his theories?!

Pyramids?! Next you'll be saying little green men constructed them...!

How's that for a solid foundation? 8)

..Well it’s not an example of your solid knowledge of physics, which by the looks of things is fairly wobbly, it's yet another quote from someone else.

I mean seriously: Gravity repels?! Can't you see that's just plain nonsense, think about how that affects us literally?!

I would like to see some of your own thoughts KOYAANISQATSI, and less of these generic quotes, which by the way are totally unfounded nonsense with zero evidence to back them up.

KOYAANISQATSI, basically you can post quotes all day but you cannot argue with someone like Einstein until you can show a deep understanding of Physics, and what’s more come up with good evidence for your "findings".

One more point, why hasn't the "New Scientist" called you?

As a blob of hot gas approaches the point of no return -- the event horizon -- immense gravity stretches the light waves emanating from the hot gas. At a certain point, the wavelengths are stretched so far that they are no longer visible. The gas then crosses over into a sort of "twilight zone," where time and space no longer obey rules we understand.

Since a black hole is nothing more than maths, this seems to suggest they dont understand their own sums.
