MJ
Trying to identify local black/brown snail that seem to prefer our cats' (all 3 of them) fur. been trying to find lists/pictures of shetland snails but can find nothing like them. they are under 7mm, but as the have under 5 whorls then snail identifiers insist they are immature and to find another specimen. the shells are opaque, the animal it's self is almost exactly the same colour as it's shell.I have managed to figure from what I have found that snails are very localised here in shetland.Does anyone have any idea what type of snail they might be?Why they chose cat fur?Or even where I could find out the answer to my questions? Mattie
Before answering your questions can you post a picture of the snails. That would help!
Noodeyn
Weird!!! Sorry know nowt bowt snails but every summer i get 7 or 8 great monsters of snails in my back garden about 3-4 inches in size. They come back every year and can move around pretty quickly. I have no flowers or plants so dont know why they like it there.
shetlandpeat
Are the shells conical, flat or a mix?
