tojo
If you were disappointed, did you donate to the collection so a better display could be arranged for next year? We thought the display was an excellent event for the kids to enjoy on a good evening. It beats them being inside watching the xfactor on such a lovely night (which is what happens on most saturdays at 7.30-8.00).

nautim
My verdict .. Disappointed.( putting it mildly) the only way we knew it was over was when some people (in the know) Started to clap In previous years this has been started and finished by the. Coastguard firing a maroon. This was not possible this year, so the show started and finished with aerial shells. Can you explain what would have lessened your disappointment? ll
Went to see the fireworks and although they were obviously lesser than previous years, we thought they were still well worth seeing. I would say that foot collectors could have been seeking contributions from the many cars as well as the standing spectators who's windows stayed firmly shut unless they were telling folk to get out of the road. No doubt all the grumblers on here will have plenty more to moan about when everything else in Shetland faces similar cut backs over the near future. We did after all have another huge lot of fireworks this year at the tall ships which could arguably have been cancelled after the massacres in Norway. Seaflech
Interestingly the OP hasn't returned to back up his comments or reply to the questions that have been asked.Given the timing of the post it must've taken over ten hours for his disappointment to subside enough to be able to type or, more likely I would say, he'd decided he was going to be disappointed by the display before he even left the house. As said, some people just can't help but complain. piggywiggie
I enjoyed the fireworks personally, I quite liked the fact that there were houses setting ones off around the same time, for me it was building all the excitement up! I was like a little child again!Although next year im going to gatecrash the HENDERSONS house
