Shetland Pigeons

Can anyone tell me if there are any pigeons on Shetland? 

An odd question I know, but I like pigeons, you see.

We have and have had 8, 9 ,or 10 Rock doves feeding in the garden for the past 12 years, do they count?

I have seen other varieties elsewhere but we always seem to attract the Rock doves.

I actually saw a pair of pigeons fly past me today down at Trondra Farm, near  Easterhoul.

Our "normal" everyday pigeons are descendants of Rock doves, i'm sure.

plenty up here in heylor have counted over 20 they nest in cliffs just beside me

Im not sure where Heylor is but I will have a look at the map tonight.

 

As long as its not too far away from Scalloway I might have the time to take a drive up.

Heylor is 10 miles north of Brae on Ronas Voe.

 

Head for Hillswick and turn 2nd right after the cooncil houses at Urafirth.

 

It's a nice place and the St Magnus Hotel in Hillswick is s good stopoff for food.

If time allows I will go up and have a look for these elusive Shetland Doos. 

(Glasgow word for pigeons).
