Jack
Hi, I was wondering if anybody knew where I could get a better internet connection in Shetland, preferably in Lerwick. I live in Yell where the internet speed is appalling, I am trying to download a film that said it would take days to download with my internet connection. I once used the WiFi at Clickamin and it appeared to be extremely fast. I noticed that the main Lerwick Shetland library's WiFi has had a speed boost recently in a press release online but I have never been there so I don't know if its any use. If they had a fast connection, that place would be perfect. So I could sit down in their laptop area and do some other work while I wait. If you happen to be using any of the public wifi in Shetland in the near future, it would be great if you'd check the speed and post it along with the location here. I use www.speedtest.net but beware, most of the buttons on the site are adverts so just click the "Begin Test" one. Thanks,Jack
JustMe
I presume you forgot to say that this is a completely legal download either of something you have bought or one of (mainly rather old) films that are available freely for download. Otherwise anyone giving you information could be aiding and abetting you in a crime!

Of course, it is a film called "The Men Who Stare At Goats" from iTunes (the HD version)

Spinner72
If you have BT Internet at home, you will probably have (depending on your package) access to BT Openzone/FON, which can often be quicker than SIC Guest etc. As with all public access though, speeds are largely determined by how many other people are using it at the time, so its pot luck to a degree. Symbister
Jack, I was in the library yesterday and happened to use their wifi on the iPad. I didn't check the speed, but it did seem impressively fast.
