Sparky
Got an interview confirmed today for a job I applied for a couple of weeks ago. I had backed off on applying for jobs a bit just because of the cost of getting there for the interview but really liked the look of this one and I'm quite glad I have the chance to come up again before we move. With a little luck I'll be able to tie it up with looking at some rental properties whilst I'm there. Anyway, to take advantage of the cheapest flight options it looks as if i'll be there Monday to Friday so could do with recommendations on a decent (but inexpensive) B&B in Lerwick. Also, where's good to eat in the evening? Went to a lovely hotel along the high st. in Lerwick last time which served fantastic fish...embarrasingly though I can't remember the name! Anything interesting you guys think I could be doing with my time, bearing in mind I won't have a car this time, would also be nice.

It was on the front almost opposite the bookshop I think? Nice place. The council paid for an interview I had with them last year. Club class flights, car hire, accomodation.... must have cost them a fortune! This time though it's gonna set me back £276 for the flights plus other costs so I'm really hoping it's succesful. Thanks for the B&B link, will check them out. Thanks for the eating recommendations too JustMe

Tomblands
It depends on the post if the Council pay travel costs or not. If the jobs are only advertised in the Shetty Times, then generally they will only pay the travel expenses in Shetland. If they advertise in the national press, then they will pay all travel costs. Sparky
Spooky, received another interview date today for a different job but on the same day. Well at least that's one day out of four that I have something planned! Managed to book my flights (following a bit of a minor panic when the Atlantic Airways site kept crashing) and working on car hire/accomodation now.Can I just say what an accomodating and friendly family the Leasks are. They arranged all my travel needs last time I visited and have been incredibly helpful this time also.
Sparky
Well that's a room booked too...phew! Talk about last minute... Really looking forward to my visit now If you see a 6'5" fella with slightly balding black hair and a 'lost' expression wandering around the island next week, feel free to come over and say hello
