  1. Black Eric retired from his life of thievery and mischevious behaviour, partly due to old age and partly due to the unsanitary and unhygenic living conditions in his cave at the back of Fitful (actually Siggar Ness to be pedantic). After he gave up working hellery, he worked for the coonty, leaning on a shovel for over 8 years, before taking a job at Mossy Hill as a MOD policeman. When they shut Mossy Hill down, he took a well earned retirement and is currently living in an assisted living facility in the South Mainland. I think the closest he ever came to being burned at the stake, was one of those wild pallet bonfires at Spiggie! 8O
  2. Maybe he has been watching the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" yesterday! 8O If he was, then maybe he would care to join us at the LGBT conference in Glasgow?
  3. I include in my group of friends, a large number of gay, lesbian and transgendered individuals, including two that have had sex changes! 8O The very fact that you take that holier than thou attitude is exactly why these individuals are considered so different and become isolated. If they are included in the general humour and fun of normal life, and I'm not talking mocking people here, they are actually included in the "normal" group of people and there are no issues, as there is no separation. It is only as soon as the group starts separating or specifically identifying itself as different, that the divisions become apparent, and start growing from that point on - if you create a division, anyone can use it for whatever purpose motivates them. The politically correct form of treating anyone who is out of the norms of society as requiring special treatment, are precisely where they go wrong and result in isolation of the group. While anyone is fully entitled to have any meeting or join any group they desire, you may notice that any number of the posters on this board actually have a sense of humour, and include anyone and everything in it! We pick on everyone equally! Totally agree with Muppet there - simultaneous posting.
  4. I am neither LGBT, nor for that matter a member of Unison. I would however consider joining to go on free trips like that, if they went somewhere more exotic than Glasgow. Maybe Miami? Or Amsterdam? The Carribean? Remember. Never turn down a free trip! Talking of which, maybe I should just stand for the cooncil at the next election? Then I'd get all the free trips I could stand, maybe a couple of lucrative directorships AND get paid for it too! 8O
  5. Loxley police arrest man for dragging shetland pony behind truck Associated Press LOXLEY, Ala. - A man who offered pony rides as part of a traveling carnival in Loxley has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after officials say he dragged a 3-year-old Shetland pony about 500 feet behind a flatbed truck on Alabama 59. Loxley Police Chief Cliff Yetter said Jerry Caruthers, 47, was taken to the Daphne Jail after his arrest Saturday night where he is being held on a $1,500 bond. Caruthers was also charged with reckless endangerment. Veterinarian Tim Stewart treated the pony and said the animal sustained severe skin burns and the knee joint in its front left leg was skinned to the bone because of abrasions from the pavement. "That is going to be the life-threatening injury, and it may not survive," he said. A police report stated the man had been drinking alcohol at the time of his arrest. "He said he didn't know the pony was back there," Yetter said. In Alabama, a conviction carries a jail sentence of six months and a maximum fine of one-thousand dollars. The pony was being treated at Baldwin Animal Clinic Monday. Stewart said the pony's owner, whom police identified as Rick Kirkland of Dade City, Fla., planned to come get the animal. A witness saw a man driving a flatbed truck south on Highway 59 about 11:30 p.m. Saturday and dragging the pony on its side, according to police. The witness said the truck pulled into a BP station after the witness told the driver that he was dragging the animal. "The man wasn't upset and didn't bother trying to get any help," the witness stated in the police report.
  6. Look tae da cooncil! 95% o' dem, looks lik trows tae me! 8O
  7. I would say their Manager is obviously a very good sport! Typical kind of commentary and excuses that are common in all professional sport these days. Maybe he should consider a career in the big leagues?
  8. Tammy Skat was the greatest pirate of recent times. It is because of him that I too became a pirate! 8O
  9. The 410 is certainly the weapon of choice for shooting mice within the confines of the house. They are light and fast, and can easily be hidden from unsuspecting mice as you stalk them in the kitchen! 8O I believe that well over 100 people in the Ness used "mouse control" as the legal basis for shotgun ownership in the good old days! Obviously many contemporaries on this board!
  10. BYU Professor on Paid Leave for 9-11 Theory September 8th, 2006 @ 6:59am Gene Kennedy Reporting A controversy over words at BYU this morning. A professor is on paid leave for suggesting the government is responsible for the destruction of the World Trade Center. The man on paid leave is Dr. Steven Jones. He's a physics professor involved in the so-called "9-11 Truth Movement." Jones believes unnamed government agencies orchestrated the fall of the twin towers and he says there's evidence to back it up. Two weeks ago he published his theory in a paper called "Why Indeed did the World Trade Center Buildings Collapse?" In it, the professor says the towers fell not because of planes hitting them but rather pre-positioned demolition charges. He cites research conducted at BYU on materials from ground zero, asserting those materials show evidence of thermite, a compound used in military detonations. He says terrorists could have never set those charges. The State Department has released a rebuttal to Jones' theory in a 10-thousand page report. BYU made this statement last night. "Physics Professor Steven Jones has made numerous statements about the collapse of the World Trade Center. BYU has repeatedly said that it does not endorse assertions made by individual faculty. "We are, however, concerned about the increasingly speculative and accusatory nature of these statements by Dr. Jones." The university added, "BYU remains concerned that Dr. Jones' works on this topic has not been published in appropriate scientific venues." It is rare for some in Dr. Jones' position to be under review because he has taught at BYU for more than two decades. He began his career at the university in 1985 and has been known for his cold fusion research. Other professors will teach his classes while he's on paid leave. He will be allowed to conduct research in his field but the university is reviewing his actions. (The Deseret Morning News Contributed to this Report.)
  11. Why should the Editor be any different than the regular readers? I don't believe many readers read the production of many of the amateur contributors, so why should the Editor bother? Now, the letters page - that's a whole different deal!
  12. You are correct, it was directed at JA. It is much more of a generalisation about the entire world of internet conspiracy whackos, than a comment directed at him. You just type faster than me. Unless you can arrange for more cabbages? 8O
  13. No, you merely repeat what the gibbering morons at Loose Change 911 and all the other whacko hang-outs post. YOU have never shown anything. You have never produced a single piece of your own evidence. You have never written any original thesis or produced any original theory of your own. All you have ever done, is link us to the sites expounding your viewpoints, and blindly repeated what these other morons produce. That great production from the psychiatric hospital, unoriginalhempseed, that is posted above just about sums up the mental abilities of most of these people. What is this, South Park in real life? Is it Eric Cartman that is really chucksheen? Sure looks like a possibility to me (whoops, is that a conspiracy theory?). When prodigious poters like the individuals from whackedout911 are brought over here by yourself and start posting, maybe 20 times a day, in addition to their prior commitments of the 75 posts a day, over 20 hours a day on the other sites, do you ever stop to wonder what kind of people they are? Have you ever wondered what else they do during the day/night if they are posting non-stop on the net? I think the biggest problem is the inability to qualify any of these anonymous morons, or their motivation to promote the beliefs they pump 24 hours a day on the Internet, obviously at the expense of any normal type of life. Maybe you will find some evidence at Somerfields? Oh, and there were no cabbages in stock earlier - could you sort that?
  14. Maybe they could build a marine smokehouse on the Norrtanic? Then they could realy maximise the investment!
  15. Even scarier, there are three of us here that know him. And I can guarantee you there are lots more! Good guy. Great sense of humour too.
  16. I never look at any of your links. I did like your confession though!
  17. Possibly the first accurate, informed, comment that has come from you. It is a least based on proven, demonstrated, fact!
  18. No, conspiracy theories are started by paranoid people who attempt to interpret things they know nothing about, by putting their own slant on things that are painfully obvious. The theory only works when like minded individuals, conspire via the Internet to detail and share their facts, information and proof. The Internet is the perfect medium for this, even though it was started and controlled by Governments and is used to monitor the activites of activists, truth-seekers, perverts, morons, clowns and gullible individuals of limited mental capacity, with ovine tendencies! It is a proven fact, that the Government can watch you through the screen of your computer and monitor your thoughts. They often use thought control as well to cover up their devious activities. In fact most of the conspiracy theories are actually started by the Government in order to cover up their real activities! 8O I am sure many of the truth-seekers that have visited here from that other site can confirm this information! There are one bunch of sheep in a good conspiracy theory, and they are the ones that continue the story. Conspiracy theories start within the believers, not the other way round.
  19. New Magnie, I hope that big V doesn't read about himself here! Do they have Internet in Scatsta? 8O
  20. Maybe you should let the conspiracy theorists at loose change 911 site. They know exactly what you are talking about! 8O
  21. I would agree that this thread has run it's course, just like the conspiracy theory that spawned it.
  22. Hey there chucksheen, the true works of a schizophreniac there! Have you ever sought medical advice for your affliction? I was shocked that none of you whacked out conspiracy morons responed to my other thread where I pointed out your own attempt at a good old fashioned conspiracy, so here it is in this thread, just for you! http://www.shetlink.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=994 Well, we have had to put up with some pretty prolific typing from the conspiracy theory whackos over at Loose Change 911, but it just gets better! Our buddy WhiteKnight had this brilliant stroke of genius! http://s15.invisionfree.com/Loose_Change_Forum/index.php?showtopic=6845 If this is the way they behave, no wonder they are suspect about the actions of everyone else in the world. What a bunch of paranoid losers! Who was it that came up with "Shill Blabber"? They would know! Shills on message boards (Source - Wikipedia) In online discussion media, such as message boards, discussion forums, and newsgroups, shills may pose as independent experts, satisfied consumers, or “innocent†parties with specific opinions in order to further the interests of an organization in which they have an interest, such as a commercial vendor or special-interest group. For example, an employee of a company that produces a specific product may praise the product anonymously in a discussion forum or group in order to heighten and generate interest in that product, or a member or sympathizer of a special-interest group may pose as a highly-qualified expert in a specific field in order to give apparently disinterested support to whatever cause the group promotes. In some jurisdictions and in some circumstances, this type of activity may be illegal. In addition, reputable organizations may prohibit their employees and other interested parties (contractors, agents, etc.) from participating in public forums or discussion groups in which a conflict of interest might arise, or will at least insist that their employees and agents refrain from participating in any way that might create a conflict of interest. In some cases, the members of an organization or the employees of a company may monitor and/or participate in public discussions and groups. Such people are not shills, since they don't attempt to mislead others. Some of them may monitor groups in order to better evaluate public and consumer attitudes about a certain product, issue, etc.; others may participate in order to provide information about products or other topics in a neutral way. Some companies allow their employees to participate anonymously in public discussion groups for the purpose of providing information or expressing opinions, as long as there is no intent to defraud and the employee's affiliation with the company is not mentioned (because mentioning the company might make a personal opinion seem like a corporate policy announcement, which would be both misleading and likely to incur liability for the company). Occasionally employees of a company may participate openly in discussions but will include disclaimers making it clear that they speak only for themselves. Finally, on rare occasions, employees of a company may participate openly in a discussion and speak officially on behalf of their employers—but when this occurs, often the employees are moderators of the discussion venue as well, and it is likely to be sponsored by the company (as opposed to venues operated by third parties or open to anyone, such as USENET). Moronic, half-witted idiots, out of touch with reality! 8O
  23. Have I missed the link to this, "'Shetland Crash Log' compiled by David Hanson", as I can't find a link to it and would be very interested to read it. If there is a link to it, could someone be good enough to direct me to it. I know of two crashes that occurred around the airport area, both witnessed by my Mother, who was a young girl then. One crashed in the "Hame Rigs" in Tolob; "Blocks" land the other side of the road from the Meadowvale turn-off. The pilot survived and after extracting himself from the cockpit, pulled a weapon on all the kids that showed up, to keep them away from the wreck, in case it caught fire. Another fighter doing aerobatics crashed by the "Ox's foot" between the end of the runway and the Ladies Holm, unfortunately killing the pilot. I am not sure about the other story about the bomber crashing on landing, but a Beaufighter ( I think) crashed into "The Hammers" on take-off, while carrying a torpedo. Over the years I have met a number of people who were in Shetland during the war, at both Sullom and Sumburgh and had great memories of it. Plus it was a much better time than some of them experienced later when they got shot-down and captured! My old Boss was on a Sunderland based out of Sullom when the war started and there was a great political play over the Nazi's intent to shoot the aircraft down as it returned from a patrol in Iceland. The newspapers had a great coverage of it, and I guess it was a great morale boosting story of the day when they made it home safely, defying the attempts of the Luftwaffe to make them crash.
