  1. My God - actually learned a piece o information fae Reporting Labour (Scotland). First time ever. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8079604.stm The SNP and Plaid Cymru have joined forces in an effort to try and force a general election. http://www.snp.org/node/15350

PS - joost got last week's Shetland Crimes - brawly gurly luikin fellow in chairge oda Coonty nou. Da owld wife says: 'he doesna look laek a man ta cross'. hmmm. mebbe he'll manage ta get Tramish ta pey back his hoosing profits? ?? ??? ???????
  4. Look for yourself. The members of the Scottish Parliament expenses have been online for years. Use this search tool, by year and MSP http://mspallowances.scottish.parliament.uk/MSPAllowances/ So, for example I can see that my MSP, Michael Mathieson, spent £4.10 on a return train ticket from Mount Florida to Glasgow Central, on 04 April 2008, Transaction reference O0273279 How to use the search tool http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/MSP/MSPAllowances/searchGuidance.htm SPICE briefings on the expenses scheme. http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/msp/MSPAllowances/AllowancesExp.htm LIGHT YEARS ahead of Westmidden. If you recall Reporting Labour and the Daily Retard have explained this clearly to the Scottish Electorate? Waitameenit, dat's no right. Nope Spot on. First past the post is a crap system.
  5. (And written or spoken by the Labour Party) I could dig out statistics to refute 'broken promises', but he's a fine night an I'm goin oot! Minority Government, Paulb, means that it is not possible to implement the parts of a manifesto that other parties disagree with. Simple fact.
  6. as first minister that is not his job, as a msp for B&B it is, are you saying he is incapable of seperating the two? with your intimate knowledge of uncle eck are you saying that is his position? as for the rest of your post that is nothing more than a PR exercise, with £300 quid a day for pies at westminster, his msp salary is small change. £46.38p a day, actually, fur pies. £1,391.50 divided by 30. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8043675.stm#salmond_alex I am curious - does du think a MP's should not be allowed ta aet whin in London? Or dat bidin in a cheapo rented flat as AS does is extravagant?
  7. The Scottish Parliament building location, design and crucially procurement route was set by Westminster politicians, specifically Donald Dewar as Secretary of State. http://www.holyroodinquiry.org/holyrood-history.htm "1 June 1999: Project was transferred to the Scottish Parliament Corporate Body" SNP are anti British, sure, as in anti the contintuation of a unitary British state. Not exactly a secret. And actually yes, the membership is to the left of centre (Professor James Mitchell did ESRC funded research on that) http://www.holyrood.com/content/view/3043/11056/ Actually we are quite good at keeping our promises, particularly given that the SNP Government is a) a MINORITY, and has its overall budget in the form of the block grant manupulated by the Westminster Government. Contrast generous funding settlements during Lab/Lib years, and since. All this is a matter of public record - usually best to find out facts before commenting.
  8. Plenty haet an very little light on here. Plus ca change! It's actually no dat hard policy-weys - look at reoffending rates fur dem at does time, an look at reoffending rates fur dem at gets a fines or community punishment. A straightfoarward bit o quantatitive (look it up, fake vikeengs) research. Da, ENGAGING BRAIN AFORE NEV, use whitiver system wirks best at reducing reoffending. Evidence-based policy. While desire fur vengance or da stocks is a natural response, prison mightna be da moast effective deterrent. Depends on da crime I suppose. until 5 meenits ago, I hed nivver towt oda possibility o baby seal pedos. Quite horrible.
  9. I am not sure that being a Westmidden MP is actually a full time job? - given that backbench MP's at that Illustrious Place have virtually no power, they are not much more than glorified social workers. On the other hand, Alex is in a fairly good position to represent his Banff & Buchan constituents, what with being First Minister. Donald Dewar and Jim Wallace also sat in both parliaments - Wallace was absent from Westminster for 749 days after entering Holyrood - basically never went back. That said, I don't think people should sit in more than one parliament. But then I think that as soon as possible NO Scottish MP's should sit in Westmidden. See http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2007/jul/10/scotland.devolution Alex Salmond set up a charitable trust in June 2007, funded by his MSPs salary. The Mary Salmond Charitable Trust Established by the Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, and administered by three independent Trustees. Chaired by Aberdeen Solicitor and Fishing Industry leader Roddy McColl, and include Harry Rankin, (practicing Chartered Accountant) and Elizabeth Wallace, (Managing Director of Family Mediation Grampian). The Trust is named in honour of Mr Salmond's late mother who spent her lifetime helping community organisations, particularly the Girl Guide movement. What is the funding for? Provide financial assistance to both individuals and community organisations, within the Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray area. In particular : * The regeneration of communities, specifically the urban and rural communities. * Organisations which support young people, through promotion, training, education, civic responsibility and volunteering for the benefit of the public. * Anything else which could be perceived as the same as the above two bullet points above. How much money is available? Maximum of £500, can be awarded for one - off grants for either capital or revenue costs for specific purposes. Who can apply? Local community and youth groups, within the wider geographical area of North East Grampian, (Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, and Moray). When to apply 1st deadline specified 7 December 2007, 2008 - February, May, August and November. (The trustees meet every 3 months). How to apply Applications can only be made in writing, to: The Mary Salmond Trust Messrs McColl and Associates Ltd 11 Burns Road ABERDEEN
  10. Umm... becis dat widna be aafil hard! First, becis it is a new institution, wi VERY much less organisational inertia. Second, becis it is a lot nearer, and a lot more visible so it's harder for malpractice ta go unnoticed. A perfect example is da Sunday Herald's campaign ta mak MSPs (and yes including a number o SNP MSPs) such as Tavish Scott pey back capital gains on property subisided bi da taxpeyer. I wid prefer if both da London Parliament, and Holyrood wis ta buy or bigg accommodation fur members at's fae da ootlying areas, and at said members wis expressly forbidden fae getting mortgage subsidy. No dey ir not - da vast majority o fok at staund fur da thankless task at is political office does it fur da right reasons. We dunna keen yet hou mony Westmidden MP's is on da take. Da BBC is quite deliberately conflating (in my view) stupit claims fur toblerones an corkscrews, wi serial property speculation, moat cleaning etc. so is du sayin da Scots is racially incapable o self government? Dat is joost historical unionist propaganda. Wha cares whit did or didna happen hunders o years ago. Worry aboot whit's happenin dis year. Ah, dat wid be da owld racial inferiority ageen. Trust me I AM NOT A FAN o SLAB MPs Nope. I dunna tink corruption an English vice, nor do I tink Westminster is an English Parliament. Du conflates 'Westminster', wi 'English'. How odd, I towt it wis a British parliament! Usual British Loyalist divide and rule tosh. And, er...Britain is no exactly rolling in cash. Google 'bankrupt britain'. 2032 afore Titanic UK peys back it's national debt. Maybe. http://www.ifs.org.uk/publications/4489 We're been through aa dis: RET wid mean fares on Aiberdeen-Lerwick wid go UP. I doot if Tavish's total hostility helped much. Ghostrider, better proper rules an 'daylight as da best disinfectant' as wis wi Lord Nolan. Actually I tink I will contact Eck an see if I can get an explanation fur da pie bills. Cheers
  11. No, not kiddin. Da point I am tryin ta mak is we can do better Independent, irrespective o onything else, an at Westminster/Whitehall is fundamentally unreformable. Hunders a years o organisational intertia - laek da Titanic, a big boat wi a peerie rudder. I dunna keen if AS et aa dat pies, although judgin bi waistline, dat is possible. Mind, whin Westmidden is on holiday, ida sense o not sitting, it doesna mean der on holiday. I am annoyed bi Angus Robertson's TV tho. Good Explanation required or we'll get someen idder ta staund in Moray.
  12. Paulb - du's no listening. It is totally irrelevant if Alex Salmond et aa da pies, whit I am saying is we need shot o Westmidden. Period. If da entire SNP wis disbanded, dat wid still be da case. Holyrood is less corrupt as Westmidden, nae question. NB no bicis da fallible human beings at inhabits it is perfect, but becis it's NEARER, an mair visible. I wish da Sunday Herald weill in its campaign ta mak MSP's pey back capital gains on property speculation funded by dee (a'm assumin du haes a job) an me. Irrespective o pairty. Tavish haes a pure brass neck incidentally. Da Scottish Parliament is also newer, an still evolving - yes yis da 'Scottish' Civil Service (wha actually run things, no da politicians!!) is still a branch oda 'British' Civil service, but year by year it becomes less 'British', less 'old boy network', less elitist, an mair open. Example: Kevin Dunion. Google it. Settin aside my point at da correct number o Scottish MP's in London should be NIL, can du no tell da difference atween a man at used a rented flat, furnished wi second haund furniture, an da crooks an 'chancellors' for Godsake, at 'flipped' designation o second/first homes repeatedly?? Dunna believe da spin fae "Reporting Glasgow", which as we all ken is staffed by Laburr supporters if not actual card-carrying members. http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/alex_salmond/banff_and_buchan#expenses Feel free tae enlighten wis regardin 'mistakes'? Jim Wallace, Donald Gorrie (Liberal), John Home Robertson - all elected as MSP while already MP, both stood down at general election. As AS is aye said he wil do. Donald Dewar, ditto until death in 2000. PS No moat as du weill keens, silly boy PPS although at da 'wha et aa da pies' competition, Eck is up dere wi Jackie Baillie. Less pies wid do dem baith guid. Cheers
  13. Amusingly enough, it looks laek da Telegraph half-inched da expenses story fae a journalist at's been wirkin on it (at some personal finanical risk) fur years an years - Heather Brooke. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/may/15/mps-expenses-heather-brooke-foi Correct number o Scottish Westminster MPs, wid be nane. and hence correct amount o Scottish Westminster MP's expenses also = NIL Wan oda reasons I joined SNP wis cis I realised Westminster/Whitehall is unreformable. An imperial parliament wi no empire ta govern. Pointless. An Independent Scotland could hardly do worse.
  14. Na, dey ir idder options. http://www.snp.org/
  15. Gordon should stay. Because he's no very guid. Weil as long as at da nixt election der no massive unexplained increases in postal votes, and mysterious disappearances oda registers. Did I meention Glenrothes? I cannot say hou disappointed I wis when Sister Wendy departed, as scho wis even better!!! Come back Wendy; dunna go Gordo!
  16. "Modern Persian is a language completely without gender. There are not even different words for "he" and "she," just the unisex un. (There are not even different titles for married and unmarried women: Persian khânum can be translated as "Ms.") Nevertheless, after some progress under Western influence, the Revolutionary Iran of the Ayatollah Khomeini retreated from the modern world into a vigorous reëstablishment of mediaevalism, putting everyone, especially women, back into their traditional places. So the advice could be: If someone wants "non-sexist language," move to Iran. " http://www.friesian.com/language.htm
  17. Fabulous Link!! NIver seen it afore aff wark wi bloddy iritis an can hardly see oot wan eye, an nou I canna see fur gaffin!!
  18. A proper new world order. Aa very polite. http://www.grapevine.is/Author/ReadArticle/icelands-rainbow-revolution
  19. I have an idea: all the London Government has to do is print more money We'rr rich I tell you! er er er. thinks at laest I hae a wheelbaurow fur takkin da money ta buy a pint a mylk ta da shop wi.
  20. No aften I agree wi Bufton Tufton at da Torygraph, but dis is spot on. "The Prime Minister in particular has been brazen in threatening Sir Fred with court action to retrieve a pension package that was signed off by the City minister, Lord Myners. This is grandstanding of the cheapest kind. Sir Fred's deal is obscene, but that does not make it illegal. Mr Brown understands this, but is desperate for the searchlight of public opprobrium to be shifted away from the unfolding debacle in Downing Street. ..." "... Our thirst for vengeance, though understandable, is distracting us from a terrible reality: the economy is in worse shape than anyone in power is prepared to admit, and public finances are completely out of control. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/jeffrandall/4886110/Sir-Fred-Goodwin-is-stealing-the-show-from-the-real-culprits.html
  21. I believe they are having difficulty getting their exports out of their country due to bad weather. A++ dram due ta skunnered. hah!
  22. That's scary! Problem is, after all the destruction that they've caused this country, people just keep on voting for them Bear in mind at da press is heavily biased towards Liebour. Da Kirsty Wark syndrome. Atho not a Tory, I tink da Mad Thatch (we are a grandmother!") did not get a fair hearing in Scotland.
  23. Q whit wey does salmon fairmers live? A dey sell salmon ta idder fok. Q whit happens if da idder fok doesna buy da salmon A - you fake vikeengs can figure dat oot. Shurely? Q whit happens if some nutter takks da heids affa a lod a peerie seals at nivver did him ony hairm. A nautheen. A2 depends if da press gets hadd o't. Q whit happens if da press gets hadd o't? A you're on da dole. enjoy. dimwits.
