  3. I watched Trainspotting on Saturday night on film four for about the millionth time and I am pleased to say that it is still one of my favs, a brilliant british film one that will go on for a very long!! The only problem was that it is looking a bit old but hey it is ten years old!! I know I didnt want to beleive that either!!! But Ewan McGregor hmmmmmmmm I think I will still drool over him in trainspotting when im 80!!
  4. Has anyone seen Sexy Beast? It was showed on the first night of free film four but it was past my bedtime (sunday night!). I have read and seen reviews about it and it is meant to be really good I would just love to see Ben Kingsley be a nasty cockney gangster no more mr nice ghandi!!
  5. I loved City of God the first time I saw it I really didn't want it to end!! I know what you mean about people not wanting to watch films with subtitels I used to be one until I watched that Chinese film man woman something something (cant remember the proper name of it), I reckon everyone should give it a go!! City of God have a televsion series out, dont know what it is like but I saw it in bookworld has anyone seen it?? Sorry never seen Momento.
  6. Spirited Away is really good. Some amazing animation and a great story that children and adults can enjoy. Have it on DVD somewhere wouldent mind watching it again now! Jacobs ladder was really good as well. Liked the way you were never sure what was going on but think i understoud it at the end, but atleast it made you think. Cool thanks for that looking forward to it I watched La Haine for the first time about 2 months ago and it is a brilliant film so good that it made my top ten! It is a excellant film one that everyone should watch if nothing more than to actually watch a french film!!
  7. We bought requiem for a dream about a year ago and it is still in the wrapper purely because we forgot about it but now that you mention it I might just give it a try but I dont really want to traumatised for a week!! I loved Jacob's Ladder the first time I saw it I really confused me in bits but it is a brillant film and one that I have not watched for at while thank you for reminding me of it!!
  8. The last film I saw in the cinema was the 3rd X-Men it was ok never as good as the first one but still impressive with special effects!! I have never seen the village and beleive it or not I have never seen Sixth Sense (because I was told the end! ) but I really enjoyed Signs I though it was a great film!! Has anyone seen spirited away?? (dont tell me what happens I am going to watch it this weekend!!)
  9. loved that book, tho i did find myself wondering whit it said aboot me dat i liked it so much as u surely shudna 'enjoy' reading aboot da gruesome ways in which he kills folk etc, but u kinda do also, me and my sister also started wondering aboot how bret easton ellis wis able to write in such detail aboot da killing methodology etc as it almost sounded too realistic (had he actually done these things???? efter aa, he used tae work in an office etc in a role very like patrick bateman) We are thinking along the same lines!! I am disturbing myself a bit reading this book aswell because I am laughing at what he is doing as some of it is pretty funny! My boyfriend is reading glamorama at the moment which is by bret ellis easton aswell so we make a right pair me reading a book about hack and slash and him reading a book about blowing things up!!
  10. Yeah uncut version sometimes are quite dissapointing though! Except from the Lord of the Rings Directors cut wow that has got some serious extra bits in it!! Something crazy like an extra 2 hours for each film!! Its great if you know anyone that has the box set get a shot of it!!
  11. Totally agree I put shivers up my spine!! And the fact that there has been a few cases over the years of crazy pchyos like that in Australia, bet the film did wonders for the tourist trade! Wonder how the film Hostel helped the tourist trade in eastern Europe? oooooo yeah I have been told about that film but never watched it is it pretty gorey?
  12. Totally agree I put shivers up my spine!! And the fact that there has been a few cases over the years of crazy pchyos like that in Australia, bet the film did wonders for the tourist trade!
  13. Well it is probally a good job that you didnt watch it to the end as it got worse!!
  14. Did anyone watch Wolf Creek on Film Four on Saturday night? Or was I the only person that stayed in on Saturday? Slightly disturbing but good not seen too many Australian films but this I was quite impressed and scared!! If you are going to watch this film do so with caution not for the faint hearted or squimish!!

    Foula Ferry

I just find it strange how the ferry service can be given to a fisher man which has had a how shall I put this an interesting career! Read the article about it in the Shetland News website and make your own judgement, I think it is slightly fishy (sorry the pun!) This is people life link we are talking about here it needs a strong standing!
  16. The Edinburgh Evening News front page a few days ago read wasps invation of capital with a picture of a huge mutha of a wasp 8O !! Thank god I haven't come across any yet but the moths down here are getting bad yuk yuk yuk!! HELP!!!
  17. I am reading American Phyco by Bret Easton Ellis really great read but find myslef looking at people that annoy me in a very strange way 8O if you have seen the film forget all about it the book is way better and more happens in it!! Another really good book to read is The courious incident of the dog in the night time by Mark Haddon.
  18. Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on with the Foula ferry!! Seems a bit suspect to me!
  19. I didn't mean that Secret Window was good because of Jonny Depp's good looks (even though it dose make it more pleaseing to the eye) I just thought it had a brilliant twist in the end and throughout the film I was gripped, try watching it again squintpinkies. Sometimes if I watch a film a couple of times I start to really like it e.g. Mars Attack I used to hate that film then one day it was on telly, I hadn't watched it for ages maybe years but I really enjoyed it and now I could happily watch it again. But then again there are just some films that you will never like for example I will never like the Dawn of the Dead films I just cant watch them they actually bore me (sorry to any die hard Dawn of the Dead fans)!!
  20. Peter Bjorn and John are imense!! I love there song and once I hear it I have it stuck in my head all day!! I recommend that everyone should have a listen!! Come on dont be scared!!
  21. I totally agree Shetland would definately benifit from some public art!! When I was in Queenstown in New Zealand they have a wall running along the harbour (is it a harbour if its at the edge of a lake??) that has carvings which look like ribbon all along it with poems running alongside of them it looks lovely and the poems are really nice!! Why can't they do that to the wall that runs below brown's road and around the museum with some carving and local poems maybe Rhoda's or other well know poets, or even why not ask the local schools to have a competition and get the kids involved in some real local art!!
  22. There is really no reason to laugh at Chitty Chitty Bang Bang JustMe but I have had people laugh at it before. I do recommend La Haine though please please please watch this unbeleivable film it is great!! It is a french film with subtitles it is mind blowing!! And another really good one is Secret Window with Jonny Depp (drooool) it really keeps you hooked!!
  23. Ok here I go In no particular order Trainspotting Pulp Fiction Goonies La Haine Secret Window (Jonny Depp mmmmmmm) Bedknobs and Broomsticks Silence of the Lambs Star Wars Lord of the Rings Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (dont laugh!!) I could go on but I will leave it for another day!
  24. Here Here McFly!! For example a few weeks ago on a Wednesday night at around 2.00am the flat above us decided to have a party a bit annoyed but we could still get back to sleep so that was fine, then we got woken by people speaking, then I realised that there was someone speaking in the stairwell (tennement flat very noisy stairwells!!) so I got up looked through the spy hole and there was a girl sitting on the stairs speaking on her mobile! I told myself to wait 15 minutes and if she hadn't gone by then to deal with it, which I did by opening the door and saying do mind speaking somewhere else, she said ok and left. As soon a I got back into bed the music was turned off!! No need for the police!!! Take heed people treat as you like to be treated!!
