MuckleJoannie
The SIC's sponsorship certainly being well publicised among the yachting fraternity. For example http://www.dailysail.com/ism/Articles.nsf/1dee886f61907ed480256c74004a15df/e03812e3e4197530802575cb007a6e7e?OpenDocument http://www.cowes.co.uk/zonexml/story?story_id=6655;cp=0 http://www.yachtingmonthly.com/auto/newsdesk/20090504145745ymnews.html

PJ of Hildisvik
^^^^^How much?C'mon Paul, you must know that money is no object, this is Shetland
Guest Anonymous
Could be money well spent. Shetland is growing in reputation as a destination for boating enthusiasts. Let's face it, with the cost of getting to Shetland, either by Northlink or Flybe, it's a good idea to attract visitors who don't have to worry about the fares. corporate
This is a complete waste of money.....it is egos getting the better of the idiots responsible for the marketing of shetland. Will it increase the amount of money spent in shetland? Will it create jobs? will it hell...it didnt last time, and wont this time. they are desperate to be seen to do something, but dont know what they are doing, and are currently overseeing a slow decay of tourism in shetland. paulb
im not saying its a bad thing im just wanting to make sure that its not more wasted. if it supports even one job i would be happy. are they other ports sponsors as well. Now if it was the tall ships race that would be worth the money.
Guest Anonymous
^^Well, it'll be cheaper than the windmills, and they won't attract any visitors EDIT... And BTW, the Tall Ships was not the success it was made out to be... Lerwick was just about as dead during the Tall Ships, last time, as Måløy was this year. In fact Måløy are still reeling from the financial aftermath.

The majority would love to come again, but seeing as it is cheaper to fly to the Canary islands or Spain..... There is no point showing off Shetland if people cannot afford to come back. The potential tourist industry is HUGE, but it is far too expensive to get here. Never mind, Once we have the windmills the tourist problem will be solved.
