stilldellin
Would strongly advise anyone in the isles to keep clear of this lot :-http://www.christmastreesandlights.co.uk/Ordered a 3' tree from them back on 21st Nov and paid for a requested further £8 in carriage. They are almost impossible to reach by telephone and simply do not answer e-mails. stillldellin stillwaitin !
DizzyKipper
There are sellers on e-bay who, for example, charge £1 for an item and £99 for shipping. They are ripping off e-bay as they only pay fees on the £1 and they are potentially ripping off customers as they can happily give a £1 refund if the item is faulty. If the item is faulty and you return it they should refund the postage as well. If bought from an ebay store rather than an auction, and the item is returned under distance selling rules, then they have to refund the postage out to you. I know what you mean though I've seen the low prices so they can get to the top of the page, and then stick on a hefty shipping charge. Also, I ordered a roller-blind from a specialist store in Edinburgh cut to the right size and everything. All went well and the order went through. A day later I got an email from them asking if I would accept an added courier charge of nearly £40. I politely advised them that I could get on the ferry as a foot passenger with a return ticket to Aberdeen and back for less than the courier charge that they had tried to impose. Another one was a (Well known in some circles) shooting supplier in England. I ordered new telescopic sights for my rifle and they tried to charge me £18 for the courier charge. We then got into a little bit of a little spat which ended up with me saying, 'Do you want my money or not? If you DO then you'll put it in the post'. 3 days later I was screwing the sights onto my rifle after they had been delivered via the Royal Mail. You can report them to eBay, because they are not trading within the terms and conditions of eBay. I have seen such traders removed in the past. hellsbells
Can I suggest everyone contacts citizens advice in Lerwick about costs forced on us when buying sooth? They are compiling complaints about delivery charges
blackball
Having ordered a lot from Amazon in the past I've noticed that its always best to choose the free delivery option if there is one... The delivery estimate might be longer, but for me it has always come royal mail or northwards which. Every time I've chosen the faster option and payed more it stops in aberdeen for 2-3 days while they tell you its being sorted and they are onto it. Then we know streamline - bless them they work hard, but they arent quick.
