As scarfs have to dry their wings out before they can fly. Its probably just the ones that didnt manage it and got caught up in the severe "westerly gale" and heavy sea we had a couple of weeks ago.

 

Thats not a story tho. Far better to blame the salmon industry. The Shetland news never miss a chance to do that.!

There are millions of sillocks under every salmon farm in Shetland .

So theres no need for the scarfs to go hungry.

I heard da scarf haed a particularily good breeding season last year. Is it possible wi da greater numbers that there was just too many for the same type o feed ?

 

seems the most logical explanation yea, plus twartree weeks a poor inshore wadder

Working away at the Kiln Cafe yesterday when a customer mentioned that we had 2 birds in the mens toilets, went for a look and low and behold it was 2 scarf's, never seen them this close before and could hardly believe my eyes. Even though we are right at the sea we only see them from afar.............very strange.

 

 

Funny that....I heard it was 2 Penguins! :wink:
