looandgary
Can anyone suggest a cost effective way to move some furniture off the island? We need to move a large sofa, coffee table, double bed, single mattress, washing machine and about 15 - 20 packed boxes off the island for storage in Aberdeen. We think we can find a method to remove it from storage in Aberdeen down south. Can anyone suggest a suitable transport company or man and his van that would be willing to give us a quote? Anyone done this themselves? Thanks for your ideas and comments in advance!
MuckleJoannie
Ian Reid has extensive experience in removals from Shetland. His core business used to be moving RAF personell to and from Unst. http://www.ianreidremovals.com/removal-and-storage-services.php
Thetideoflife
I would definately give Ian F Reids a ring for a quote. We used them last year to move here and they were great. The price was massively less than any other quote. As far as i know, they are back and forth to the mainland all the time.

upmakk
As far as i know, they are back and forth to the mainland all the time. That's why they can charge less, because they're virtually guaranteed another load on the return trip.
Romeo
Speak to Shetland Transport and get rates for 1/2 or full pallets as it works out cheaper than paying for boxes individually when you send more than a few
daveh
I am another strongly recommending Reids.
lerwick
Speak to Shetland Transport and get rates for 1/2 or full pallets as it works out cheaper than paying for boxes individually when you send more than a few Sometimes a long pallet is charged as two or more. Reids are a company you can trust honest hard working people.
