  3. Hi, A few more folks sponsorship money to chase up yet, however at the moment the total is standing at £1,444.35. Hopefully get everything collected in the next couple of weeks, and shall announce the final total soon!
  4. I believe Cunningsburgh Hall are hosting a car boot sale Sunday 30th August.
  5. Not just one of the greatest football managers of all time, but probably the biggest gentleman football has ever seen. One of the few english managers liked and admired by football fans of whatever nation everywhere in the world.
  6. haha never heard of that expression before...........actually, what.
  7. Apologies in advance, because this post isn't anything tae do we....anything I suppose, but thats definately my favourite post ever.
  8. I keen when the playpark at Baltasound opposite the police station was going, 14+ wern't allowed in it, unless of course you were taking bairn we you. I'm certainly not suggesting thats what should happen to King Harald Street playpark. If its a bony day outside, and the teenagers are wanting to be outside, there isn't very many places for them, if they wern't hanging around the playpark, they would be hanging around the street, and people would probably be complaining about that. The vast majority of teenagers are behaved, and polite when approached, however its the minority which give them a bad name, and I have to admit, I have found myself in the past stereotyping them and 'tarring them with the same brush'
  9. My favourite wis G4OUP, I believe it belongs to Ewan O'....
  10. I quite like a game of tennis in the summer (usually after Wimbledon or the US open etc.), but there doesnt seem to be much interest. Is there any clubs, training etc? Don't even think the Clickimin have any outside court? If no, then does anyone fancy a game!?!?
  11. I mind in my student days when biding in a flat ida toon that after getting full of drink one night, my flatmate drunkenly sleepwalked into the cupboard and peed aa'oer wir shoes. True Student fashion, we joost bolted the cupboard door shut and bought new shoes!
  12. Maybe wrong with this, but if there is cases of Swine Flu confirmed by doctors or advised it might be swine flu by NHS Scotland or NHS 24, don't they have to make the information public (obviously not who it is, but the fact hes treated one) I for one haven't heard anything in local media, just gossip on the grapevine...
  13. Day 5 Finished... Set away from Toft this morning around 9.30am, glorious weather, then out of completly nowhere a bizarre rain shower which lasted about an hour, wasn't too horrendious however, it cooled me! My auntie managed to take the day af her wark and surprised me by walking the last 10 mile distance, which was excellent, finished by 12.40pm. Straight to the Wheel, and the Thule, early night tonight, back tae wark damorren! Thank you again to everyone who sponsored, the website remains open for donations, remember every penny goes straight to the excellent charity Cancer Research UK. www.runningsponsorme.org/shetlandwalk It was done abit backside first so to clarify this was it being done.... Day 1 Sumburgh to Scalloway Day 2 Scalloway to Voe Day 3 Ulsta to Gutcher Day 4 Belmont tae Skaw Beach Day 5 Toft to Voe There are pictures, taken by Desley Stickle, when received they can be published.
  14. Day 4 This was a brilliant day, not because it was Unst, and being an Unst man I should enjoy this one anyways! But because of the weather and company which helped me along. I set away from Belmont at the back of 8am, reaching Baltasound by 10.30am. Me, my 2 aunties, my sister, my wife and 2 year old son, walked to the Boating Club for breakfast before setting off again for Skaw. They decided they were going to accompany me north so north we geed, in brilliant weather, reaching Skaw in record time at 2.30pm. The blisters were good, bandaged up, however the sprained ankle was very sore, and nearly did my other ankle walking along the Setters which would have been a complete nightmare! My final leg of the journey tomorrow is the leg from Toft to Voe, which was missed out from Day 2 due to injuries. So come around lunchtime tomorrow, I can hopefully declare I have........not going to jinx anything, let you know tomorrow how I've done.
  15. Day 3 Worst day by a country mile, Yell was horrible, and I apologise to the Yell folk, it wasn't the island, it was the weather! The morning we set away from Ulsta (with my wife who kept me company throughout this leg) around 9.15am, the NE gales gusting F7 and constant rain, it wasn't fun. The afternoon wasn't so bad, whetherwise, got a few stops from friends which is always a morale booster. However a journey which should have taken around 7 hours, took roughly 9, and the fitness was terrible! I forced mysel to go out to the Unstfest doo at night, and very glad I did, excellent night, managed to raise around £350 from extremly generous Shetlanders and tourists, so it was worth venturing firt!
  16. Quite possible, blue tshirt, kinda looks like a tourist
  17. Day 2....Ouch Today was a slow long day, not covering much mileage, only managed to get to Voe (10 miles short of intended destination). Also I've had to return home for the evening to receive medical treatment on burst blisters and bandage a sprained ankle. I also dropped my phone alang the Lang Kames, however this was later recovered! So the new plan o attack is setting off from Ulsta tomorrow morning, hopefully abit refreshed after a good nights sleep, ending up in Gutcher around late afternoon. This might be later depending on the grim NE gales and rain forecast. Sundays plan is Belmont to Skaw. And finishing off this Monday (which was meant to be my day of rest before returning to the wark!) the 10 miles from Toft to Voe. Keep you posted on developments. Can I also say a big thank you to everyone who's waved, tooted, flashed and donated along the way, every one a real morale booster and spurred me along when pain was setting in, especially today.
  18. Day 1 walk: Ouch....Blisters everywhere, got some pads from boots going for the feet today, hopefully make a remarkable improvement for tomorrow, otherwise its going to be another sore day!
  19. I absolutely agree with the quote, I am the same, I'm not anti-english in the slightest however I despise their football and rugby teams because of the media. I was listening to the Ashes on the radio yesterday (due to television generally being nothing but soaps and politics on a Sunday, and I dont have SS) and I was being a neutral, but the horrible onesided usual english nonsense on Radio5Live, I had to start supporting Australia, Geoffrey Boycott was terrible! The Sky Sports team however I feel are brilliant, althrough obviously supporting England, praise whatever team for good play when deserved, including the Aussies. Therefore I'm Australian for the summer, plus my auntie lives out there, rude not to support them??
  20. Does anyone know more about the Legion? Do you have to be a member to use snooker tables?
