I agree some younger councillors would be a breath of fresh air. On the ethnic background bit, as nearly everyone in Shetland is the same ethnic type dont think this will happen. Its a pity that so many councillors can stand unapossed. Would be far better with a greater mix to pick from. I for one would not make it as easy to get elected, I would make them do some serise of tests to make sure they are competent for the job or bar them. This may be un democratic, but if they are going to be in charge of our money and future I think it should be done as I know from experience that some are not up to the job and have difficulty understanding things that are set before them. Worst thing is that none like to admit it as they dont want to lose face.

Thats the problem with democracy, its really just a popularity contest, people just do what looks good now and dont think ahead or make hard decisions which have to be made for the greater good as if it hurts now they wont get voted back in. Easier to spend the cash and make no cuts.

The only thing stopping us is a cultural thing. Getting hungry thinking about it.

I read the bible quite a few times on the south boat as it was the only reading material available late at night to beat the boredom when I could never sleep. Its actually not to bad a read. You are right the questions were going to lead you to some answers wrongley for example: "A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system." I strongley agree that it does (as obviousley it will avoid all the arguments) but that does not mean I agree with it! The question should be worded diffrently.

Mabey they could tax their pocket money to cover it all?

It looks like democracy in action as it was surley the majority of the passingers who would did not want to travel with them on the plane. But ultiomatley it should be up to the airport security and airline.

I think it would be a great idea as we would see the back of them, save loads of money and they have given up working by the rules of our society so let them all make their own.

I usually vote for the SNP, but im not that keen on independence. As I think the SNP would do what is actually best for Scotland and not what their masters down south tell them to do. Think more poeple should think about voteing for SNP for this factor even if they dont want independence as thet would be a seperate referendom.
