  1. Yazz - The Only Way Is Up Of course I'm joking, I'd like my funeral to be as emotionally upsetting for everyone as possible. Probably Ben E King, Stand By Me would be played. It was no. 1 on the day I was born (the re-release in the 80's, I'm not that old).
  2. The Shetland Times apologised about getting the facts wrong, and changed their £135 million to £55 million loss. However according to that it's only a £5 million loss. Has someone along the lines got there DKK and GBP mixed up?
  3. I don't think that was what Muppet was speaking about...

    Camera Obscura

If only you could shut Posers full stop... but thats a different matter! Sadly I'm in Aberdeen now so wouldn't be able to see them, otherwise I would! Heard the name, couldn't name their tracks...
  5. Yep - sigh of relief, they didn't declare bankruptcy before or while I was on her! Excellent service from Smyril as usual. Perfect trip, nice boat, much more exciting than Northlink. Pity I probably wont expirence it again!
  6. As long as they don't go bust before Tuesday, otherwise I have a problem getting home. Sadly I can't really see Smyril Line lasting much longer.
  7. I wanted to be captain of the St Clair. Maths/angles/anything remotely complexing isn't my strong point, so it was never going to happen.
  8. Most people go to Posers for that.
  9. There was quite a good piece at about quarter past one this morning on 5 live.
  10. I use them as well for dumping large files for people to download.

    Your 5 Best Gigs

Had I actually paid (I won the tickets) to see that gig I would have probably asked for my money back. I don't think it was down to Oasis, they weren't too bad I must admit, but more the combination of the support act being terrible, the crowd being filled with morons, the constant singing of football songs and the AECC being a sharn venue. And my ears were buggered for about a week afterwards, certainly the worst they have been after a gig. I thought the support band were'nt that bad. However I had listened to some of their songs previously before going. Any band would be rubbish live if you didn't know their songs.

    Your 5 Best Gigs

It's only in the last year or so I have actually started trying to go and see gigs, so the choice is limited... however: 5. Dogs Die In Hot Cars - Glasgow Garage - May 2005 First 'proper' gig I ever went to see. Was in the middle of my exams so needed the break. All the songs were great, the band were on top form and it was an excellent weekend. 4. Roddy Womble/Hazy Janes/The Family Mahone - North Star - June 2006 Yes a recent local gig makes it into my top 5. Hearing You Held The World In Your Arms and American English being played acoustically to only a few of us was increadibly surreal. The Family Mahone were on top form... to the drinking songs! 3. Ian Brown - Aberdeen Arena - February 2006 He made such an effort to do an excellent show. Tiring weekend to get there, back and not miss any work, but it was worth it. The man is a legend... enough said! 2. Oasis - Newcastle Arena - July 2005 First time seeing the greatest band to grace this earth. The crowd singing Live Forever was a hair on the back of your neck moment. Well worth the boat/the train/overnight in Newcastle/train/boat few days I had. 1. Oasis - Aberdeen Arena - December 2005 For almost the same reasons as above, except this gig comes on top because Noel performed the Masterplan. Seeing The Kooks, The Automatic, Razorlight and We Are Scientists in the space of two weeks in October, so I wonder if any of them will make it into the top 5. Razorlight is the only one I'm thinking might.
  13. http://www.qiq.co.uk/technology1.php £16.99 a year - may seem cheap but actually a really good service.

  15. I remember someone said to me, and the may have been speaking rubbish but, Sumburgh airport is one of the hardest airports in the world to land at.

    gnarls barkley..

In what way is she like the Streets? Listen to the track Knock Em Out on her album. Very Street-ish.

    gnarls barkley..

Crazy was good. Then it got over played. And over over played. And over over over played. Then it spent 9 weeks at number one. And got over played even more. The rest of the tracks dont do anything for me! I'm liking Lily Allen at the moment. She's like the Streets, but good.
  18. I was under the impression that if there was a post below yours in the thread, when you edited your post it would add the last edited bit at the bottom.

    Hitching

I don't pick up hitchers. They'll either speak too much (thus annoying me as I wont be able to concentrate on the radio, and err, driving), or they wont speak enough and there will be an akward silence.
  20. I see the Norrona has managed to hole herself again in Faroe. Not so bad this time though! http://www.portal.fo/myndir/myndatema/b8fcf68364ecfb06c567f58b0fd85710.jpg

    Roddy Woomble Gigs

Good to see he wasn't disapointed about the poor turn out at the North Star.

    crisps

My favorite space raders too. I'll always be a watsits man myself.
  23. From what I could gather it was going to be each way, so a holiday to Denmark was possible without a trip up to Faroe. I don't know where I got the 4 times a week figure from, but I'm sure I heard that number on Radio Shetland last night. I dont think the schedule is set in stone yet, the board of directors have to agree to it first.
  24. Interesting news yesterday about possible plans to make the Norrona call in Lerwick between Hanstholm and Torshavan, but not on route to Bergen, instead calling in at Scrabster. Seems an odd choice, and it still means 4 calls a week into Lerwick. Who thinks this will last only a year to keep Shetland happy?
