  2. ^ Useful for emergency services to know there was a child in the car. I dunna tink dat's why dir installed. See attached URL http:// http://www.snopes.com/horrors/parental/babysign.asp
  3. Baby On Board Stickers! If dey actually got folk to drive safely every c@nt would hae dem!
  4. Minder! "I could be so good for you. I'm gonna help ya! Love you like you want me to. I'll do anything for you . . . I'll be so good for you" "So they want me to star in it, write the feem toon, sing the feem toon..."
  5. Yes the road is still open and it does have the muckle dipper in the middle of it. I agree, it is probably the steepest road in Shetland. The road never gets any maintenance as there is only one house up in Skaw.
  6. Peter Henderson appeared on a childrens quiz show. Can't remember the name of it though. Laurence Robertson was the woodwork teacher he had two son's one called Patrick (who I believe you remember) and another called Andrew. The Art Teacher I'm no so sure about..... I would guess it was Liam O'Neil his catchphrase was: (On seeing a young pupils masterpiece which they've slaved on for hours.) "What's that? Put it in the bin!" Ahh I remember the days Setters Hill is still called as such. However they are no longer used by the RAF as they pulled out of Unst a couple of years ago.
  7. Hi robynfali, The teacher is Lesley Smith though you probably will remember that his nickname was Pleep.(**MOD EDIT**). I believe he's given up driving as his eyes are getting worse (though he still cycles everywhere!) I'm a bit younger than you but I don't think there was a Patrick Henderson (I could be wrong) there was however a Peter Henderson, Martin Henderson or Patrick Robertson. Hope this helps
  8. Couldn't help noticing this thread name http://www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2545 [/url]
  9. Just thought I would post as I'm an offshore worker. When I tell guys on the rig that I'm from Unst they tend to say very little about the airport but more about the two hotels they had to stay in when they got bumped due to fog. The normal comment is that it was a s***hole but what a night we had! Unst Airport will probably never open again but as an offshore worker the nearer the rig the better. Tiger Helicopters are not the most comfortable things to travel in and the less time spent in one the better!
  10. One problem with a Northern Rovers team from an Unst perspective is that all our games would effectively be Away games. The Home games would all end up being played in Mid Yell. The players and fans would soon get tired of travelling every single game of the season. Also the majority of A league games are played during the week, Away games just simply wouldna be possible due to ferry timetables, etc. A Northern Rovers team was tried before and contained very few Unst players, most weeks just two. The team tended to be filled up by players from other A league teams who couldna get a game anymore. In fact in the first team there was just two Unst and two Yell players the rest were ex Spurs, Celtic, Delting, etc.
