Shocking! 50P is all we are speaking about, everyone else has to pay it, fair is fair! This is what annoys me about the parking, is one rule for one person and another rule for another person. EDIT: Just going back to that, i thought the council were ment to be getting there own traffic wardens, has that just gone by the by.? Or was it going to be a measure if the police didnt get one?

Ehh? Ive heard mixed rumours, heard it may just be a Shetland man? Still no sign of who ever it was. Ive no been on the street lately but ive notice the pier seems to be pretty full recently. Maybe the threat has scared people inot paying 50P!

Any idea who the new man/woman is? Up most respect for them. You have to have alot of courange and desire to do a job like that up here, even for the regular officers, must be hard being a local but a job well worth its time. Lets just hope they get out there and fire out the tickets so the SOME people can get the message.!

Answer No. As Stated in the ACPOS code of guidelines and as stated before in this thread (page17) that applies to a RADAR device. A quick google search, and i think you will find its a LASER device that they use up here and in most places in Scotland. I have been done for speeding before and the gun is a laser device, cant remember the name but it works by firing a laser at your car and waiting for it to reflect of your car. This is once again nit picking, a simple search and you could have found your answer, because now this thread is going around in circles.

Hi All, Has anyone been down to Aberdeen recently and recieved laser eye surgery? If so are there any hints/tips you can provide? How did they find it? I'm considering heading down to a Clinic in Aberdeen but im not sure which one to go to yet. So looking for a bit of help... Thanks in advance. Sorry for the late reply. Yeah 3G in the town is spot on, get push e-mails, Mobile MSN and of course the streaming. The iPhone is great with it, love it.. Been getting 3G ever since i got my iPhone, last mont. So im not sure if its just hit shetland or if its been running for a while. Im Pleased anyway.

Yup have an iphone with Vodafone, its really good. Full Signal over 90% of shetland with 3G in the town as far out as scalloway/tingwall area, with it returning in brae.

Hi All, I am looking for a bit of help from fellow Shetlinkers, I was up looking at cars at Jims Garage/Mazda & Forda up at Sutherlands there, albeit a very snow covered forecourt. Now they have a car that im thinking to buy sitting outside, good price etc, looks in good condition. I was just wondering what peoples views are of the service at the Garage there. The reason im asking is i cant decide if i would be better going south to buy a car. Any positive/negative reviews of the garage? Main Road through Tingwall into town is horrible, cars tailing back as far as the runction to head west.. Cars shooting off the road all the way up, gritter is on a constant loop now but not with much difference. Avoid it if you can..

Well are you not surprised... Its the few that take the pi$$ over and over. Victimizing the public. Step out of line, im just glad it was in a court of law for all to see because 9 times out of 10 it is on the street or by the road side. I would love to speak to the top man, but with the fear of making the matter worse, puts me off the idea. Venting on this forum saves the ears of the wife, and getting her worked up as much i get worked up about the matter. Police Officer, you expect an understanding, polite person to speak to you, but when you get something that is verging on aggression, then it doesnt paint a nice picture for the person. As you say its wrong that the rest of the officers get tarred with the same brush but its the certain officers that time and time again, let them down.

It Could, if someone would bother and give them out, maybe some drivers will only learn when it hits them in the pocket. £1 for the pier or £30 or whatever it is for parking on the street when you shouldnt!!

Police Evidence Thrown Out of Court I think this says it all... No faith, not anymore!! Anything to get a conviction ? , lying in a court ?! AND from a cop!! Brings alot of faith in the "intelligence" lead operations that the police always pride themselves on. NO wonder the public of shetland have no faith in them. I just find it appalling to be honest!

Still no seen dis new parking warden.. I have seen the polis oot on the street which is all very promising but when they walk up to the post office area or even da market cross they just stand around for a few minutes then walk on, they just werent intersted in the bad parking and people taking the pi$$ with the parking, closing the road off. No sign of them slapping tickets on cars or even speaking to the drivers... WHAT IS GOING ON!!
