  1. Does anybody know if/when the Clickimin fireworks are on this year? I'm sure I saw something saying it was on Saturday 3rd November but I maybe imagined it!
  2. Anybody got any idea if there's going to be a bus through Yell to/from the Cullivoe gig?

    Oh that's a shame - thanks anyway.

  5. From the point of view of someone who has actually had laser eye treatment, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. As with any type of surgery, there are risks but as long as you understand what they are, you can make an informed choice. I underwent treatment at Optimax in Glasgow six years ago for severe short sightedness. I went from not being able to see the first letter on the opticians board, to being able to read the bottom line with ease - and I still can. To not have to reach for glasses first thing every morning, or have the inconvenience of contact lenses is, for me, nothing short of miraculous. I still marvel at being able to see the flag mast on top of the Town Hall from my house, nearly 2 miles away! Good luck with whatever you decide.
  6. Mine arrived from Ticketmaster yesterday.
  7. I gave the kids tea at Clickimin tonight as a treat after swimming - what a complete rip off!! I ordered 2 toasties (one with chips), a kids sausage + chips and a kids burger + chips, plus 4 cartons of juice - £17!! I nearly choked!! £4.40 for a toastie - what's the mark-up on that?!! The food was OK but certainly not value for money which is a real shame as it could be so much better. Come to think of it, it was tea-time and the place was pretty much empty - says it all really...
  8. It DID look nice until they painted it white!
  9. I feel like I should be on commission, I've recommended them to so many people!
  10. We've used Conveyancing Direct twice and wholeheartedly recommend them. They're efficient, professional and don't drag their feet. On both occasions we saved hundreds of pounds on the prices quoted by local solicitors. We're not planning to move again but if we did, we'd have no hesitation in using them again. http://www.conveyancingdirect.co.uk/
  11. With all due respect, we can't rewrite history but perhaps we can turn something negative into something positive that, as far as I can see, can only have good implications for Unst. PS - I hear the fellow that stayed in Scalloway Castle was a nasty piece of work, perhaps we should flatten it!
  12. Just been looking at the Belmont House web page and I, for one, think it looks great. I'm already considering booking it for a family get together and I'm certainly no toff! £1400 per week may seem excessive but between 12 people it works out at £16.67 per person per night. I think, short of staying in a tent, you'd be hard pushed to find anywhere cheaper. For comparison, the youth hostel at Gardiesfauld (which is also lovely) is £13 per adult per night. It's just a shame some people feel the need to moan about absolutely everything.
  13. 10, which is a bit blinkin excessive if you ask me. 4 ok, 6 maybe but 10? Hope the first 200 folk don't buy 10 each!
