  1. Viking to begin construction on Sandwater Road Can anyone explain where Viking Energy's money is coming from to award this contract?
  2. Possibly being cynical here, but who owns the land that this proposed development is to be built on? It wouldn't happen to be a certain North Councillor that's in favour of it, would it?
  3. The year is 2222 and Mike and Maureen land on Mars after accumulating enough frequent flier miles. They meet a Martian couple and are talking about all sorts of things. Mike asks if Mars has a stockmarket, if they have laptop computers, how they make money, etc. Finally, Maureen brings up the subject of sex. "Just how do you guys do it?" asks Maureen. "Pretty much the way you do," responds the Martian. Discussion ensues and finally the couples decide to swap partners for the night and experience one another. Maureen and the male Martian go off to a bedroom where the Martian strips. He's got only a teeny, weeny member about half an inch long and just a quarter inch thick. I don't think this is going to work," says Maureen. "Why?" he asks, "What's the matter?" "Well," she replies, "It's just not long enough to reach me!" "No problem," he says, and proceeds to slap his forehead with his palm. With each slap of his forehead, his member grows until it's quite impressively long. "Well," she says, "That's quite impressive, but it's still pretty narrow...." "No problem," he says, and starts pulling his ears. With each pull, his member grows wider and wider until the entire measurement is extremely exciting to the woman. "Wow!" she exclaims, as they fell into bed and made mad, passionate love. The next day the couples rejoin their normal partners and go their separate ways. As they walk along, Mike asks "Well, was it any good?" "I hate to say it," says Maureen, "but it was pretty wonderful. How about you?" "It was horrible," he replies, All I got was a headache. All she kept doing the whole time was slapping my forehead and pulling my ears."
  4. Is it not the case dat folk are just fed up wi da general standard (or lack of) o da local watering holes in da toon? Most o da eens you walk into you can smell da toilets as soon as you open da door, your feet are sticking tae da floor on da way to da bar and some o da staff couldn't care if you get served or not. Dir's really not much tae entice you oot! Some o da landlords should also take a trip Sooth and learn a few tips on how to run more family friendly establishments.
  5. In 2014/15 the Scottish government underspent its budget by roughly £350 million. It is fairly obvious that if they did not use the budget allocated then Westminster would reduce it's future funding.
  6. if you believe you know some secret about me feel free to publish. if not shut up. trying to stop folks by intimidation is so political you could just be a libdem mp. and if you do state anything please make sure you add your real name and address. the man is bent. a lawyer and an elder he knew what the correct conduct should have been. "Is that the sound of Sleigh Bells Daddy?". "No Tiny Tim it's dem bones in da closet!!!!" What I'm saying is that you can't come on this site and rant away expecting everyone to agree with you. It's you that's acting like a politician probably an SNP one at that
  7. Maybe you should rethink your last statement, "Ive not lied". It's very few people who have never told a lie. Maybe you should have another look in that closet!!! I've no links to Alistair and yes he made a mistake, but this is turning into a witch hunt. Do you really believe any Politician to be squeaky clean?
  8. Maybe you should look at the skeletons in your own closet before making a statement like that!!!!
  9. There is no reason for anyone to be out of work in Shetland for two weeks let alone over two years at the present time. Those that are simply cant be bothered to get off their backsides and take a job as the benefit system is too good.
  10. I was with TalkTalk for several years until their Broadband speed became useless. I was constantly getting well below 1.0Mb usually 0.36Mbps download and after a year of getting nowhere with their so called customer support, I finally switched provider. I am now with BT and getting download speeds of 5.0Mbps, which I feel is pretty good given my location and with a complete phone/broadband package there's not a big difference in my monthly cost.
  11. For anyone who is with TalkTalk the following reply I received after several complaints regarding slow internet may be of interest. I am now in the process of switching to BT and I would suspect this is the same for anyone not with BT. Re: Slow Broadband . Options . . .. on ‎06-12-201310:46 AM Hi, BT have not indicated any issues on their side. The next stage would be to arrange an engineer, however just to set your expectations, BT are not providing enough bandwidth at peak times for talktalk customers due to financial constraints, and if this does turn out to be the case, then this will not be resolved. You would therefore be allowed to leave talktalk without any penalty etc. Thanks. . Karl
  12. Getting rid of the skips was just another stupid idea by wir officials. I believe the skip contract wis only £60,000 per year, If they sacked the high paid official who came up wi da idea da Council wid probably have saved more!!
  13. Exactly the same. Not all the time. Can go for days without a problem but equally can have days when I have half a dozen (or more) drop outs in a hour. Fairly confident that the problem is with BT rather than Plusnet even though I pay Plusnet for my internet. One day I will get irritated enough not to try calling support (been hard to get through lately) but to call sales demanding a mac code. At least BT would give me 6 months free internet. Use http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker to identify what types of connections you can get. In Shetland we are limited by BT as no other ISP wants to spend the money putting there own equipment in the exchanges to unbundle them and allow for better speeds. So almost all ISP's are piggybacking on BT's equipment, if you are having a fault it is down to BT and when you try and resolve it you are stuck speaking to your ISP acting as a middleman. Lerwick has 1 LLU operator that has unbundled the exchange, which is TALKTALK and I can confirm that I get speeds of 13Mbs or 15Mbs if I tweak my SNR values. I am with TalkTalk and the download speeds are pathetic, so I am interested to know how you tweak SNR values to see if it makes any difference. Customer support is non-existant
  14. I am actually closer to exchange than they are. I have tried different routers, renewed all micro filters and had house wiring checked by an engineer - all Ok. Shouldn't need a MAC code as I have phone package as well, so would be transferring everything to new supplier. It seems to be impossible to speak to any TalkTalk manager in UK and from what I've read on here BT doesn't seem to be much better. Just getting fed up paying for a service that I am not receiving!! Checking the internet there's not a huge difference in prices for broadband/landline with unlimited call package, that's why I was asking for folks experience with other providers.
  15. Looks like 2-0 for PlusNet. As mentioned currently with TalkTalk and constantly getting less than 1Mbps sometimes as low as 0.15, my parents live close by and are with BT, they get 5Mbps. Does BT manipulate line speeds to other servers? Looks suspicious!!
