rickoshay
My vote goes to the worlds best linesman ,Martin Binns
Shetlandsheep
If you're speaking about best linesman then John Saunders and his son Darren Saunders must be up there with the very best Shetland has to offer. on the best sportsman over the best decade... James Johnston of Spurs would get my vote. Played consistently year in year out, one of the most if not the most technically gifted footballers in Shetland. When Spurs were getting beat and bottom of the table he could have easily upped and left, but he never he stuck through the bad times. He always believed Spurs could achieve somthing, and its only now Spurs have turned a few heads. And Im sure next year and years to come they could be a dominant force in Shetland football. He has also pulled on the blue Shetland jersey umpteen times and has stood out for many o' year as Shetlands danger man, scoring lots of goals along the way aswell as assisting ones too. jimmy parks
Maybe not in the last decade, but I would say the following are legends that I can remember. Da Flea, as a football referee. Melvyn Wick, Orkney badminton player who played in Shetland many times. Alistair ''Pomp'' Fullerton, Scalloway Legion F.C. Ha ha Frankie, great choice. Robert Parker
Craig Dinwoodie? He has been playing 'top-flight' football in Shetland for @ 20 years now. Represented Shetland, and more importantly been an ambassador for Delting during their rise to the top and subsequent spell as the Number One force in Island Football. Next time you see him on the Street, Stop Him and Buy Him a Pie. Or a Cheeseburger. Hell even a Poke of Chips. And thank him for some magical Sporting Memories. It would be more than what Delting did for him at the end of his career with them. (that's maybe a story for another thread )
