braveheart
after reading this on this bbc website http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8338289.stm i was wondering could shetland play a team like that i know we would get pummped after looking at there squad but is there anything stopping a friendly in theory also the thread of most capped kinda got me thinking about it, i mean it would be great for shetland football getting to play new teams who are in the same boat small regional team who just want play football??? Baxter
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalonia_national_football_team#Current_squad looking at their squad, i think they are a million trilllion miles out of our league. ( I mean most of theri home games ar at the NOu Camp) and probably their worst player plays for celtic... would be great if shetland could line up a few games against more "exotic" opponents (so to speak). Maybe need to start a little closer to home though, perhaps lining up friendlies with some lower Football league teams/ reserve teams on the mainland (perhaps even in england). braveheart
i know what a team but i was also thinking more along the lines of other non fifa international teams http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_non-national_representative_teams_in_men%27s_footballjust as an idea just for a change and like you say it would be a bit exotic but is it allowed like diffrent governing bodies because if not bring on the Canary Islandsor some one like that id go to watch
penfold
Try this site for news and results on non-fifa games, there is a ranking system as well so you can see Shetlands international ranking?? based on games played v other non-fifa teams. If I recall correctly then this organisation had made contact with the Western Isles team at Aland http://www.vivaworldcup.info/ so you never know whats possible? JohanofNess
Catalonia is that no biting off a little bit more than the team can chew still would be good to see Shetland playing in the Nou Camp.
