shetlandpeat
I enjoyed my bike rides around Lerwick and Scalloway. What is common is the lack of respect for others safety. Here in Lancashire I have seen some stupid actions by both road users, but also horse riders who do not wear any hi viz around the countryside. Then car drivers passing horses at speed instead of the 15 mph stated. Car drivers tend to think themselves as safe, they tend to rely on the cars safety systems than their own skill. They also think they are not to blame as they clip a bike rider when overtaking when the rider is already overtaking. There is another string about this me thinx. Car drivers are not trained professional drivers, few have tried to improve their driving skills with advanced training. Also there is no national training scheme for kids on their bikes, we had to do it and wear a badge to enable us to be able to cycle to school and use the facilities. We just need to remember that folk can be killed if it goes wrong, on both sides.
