  1. Below is an Article in the Observer Music Magazine on how Recordings by Thomas Fraser from Burra were restored and are now getting fame 30 years after his death. Enjoy...... http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm/story/0,,1795962,00.html
  2. they call it digital rotoscoping, where they paint over each frame of film. Looks Great and even Keanu apparently is good in it as well!
  3. Was watching Telly last on BBC 2 and they showed a TV programme that made me more depressed than anything i had seen in a while. It was part of the "underground Britain" series on misfits in society and the programme centred on.... Tabloid Journalists!! It featured two no mark reporters who could only be described as complete moral black holes. One reporter was chasing a single mum on the possible chance that a Premiership football fathered the child when she was underage (this turned out to be untrue in the end). When asked what she could possible gain from having a jounralist rake through her past, he simply replied "I'm sure she would be getting some money for it if she co-operates. If she doen'st we'll expose her anyway!" The other tried to do an Expose on Hywell Bennett (he was in that 80's sitcom shelly and Eastenders as well). the Journalist took a picture of him simply off to the Pub and then turned it into a "TV Star now sad, pathetic drunk of a man". Again no of this was true! All this journo would say was "He's a celebrity ain't he? I bet he love the attention anyway"! At the end it made you want to stab them to death with a rusty spoon. Thank god the Shetland Times has reached this far yet!! Can anyone beat this?
  4. At the Moment My Listening is General - XFM in London Once in a While - BBC radio 6 Saturday Lunchtimes - BBC Radio Scotland for "Off the Ball" Oh and i definitely recommend any of a number of pirate radion stations in south london. choose form Nosebleed Drum & Base, Belching Grime or Loverman R&B. Fantastic!!!!!
  5. I've met George Galloway twice (once in my Uni days in Glasgow and last year in East London) and I was actually discussing him a few weeks with our Rugby Club President, who is our Local MP in London and happens to know him in his early days. One of the things we agreed on is that he is far from stupid. Our MP said that he was one of the sharpest politicians he had met and could easily out Manoeuvre most of his Peers (see the Bethanl Green election and his trip to America for example). One thing we did agree on though is that is is a complete Bullsh*tter that would say just about anything if it would ensure that it would get more votes or make people listen to his cause. An example was a speech last year he gave to Islamist parties in Bangladesh where he went on about how great islamist states where, and then stated the opposite when he came back to the UK! Oh and he seems to love the sound of his own voice especially when he has that "Look, i've come from the Shipyards, and yet here i am spouting these really long word and know what they mean!" air about him. The comments about Tony Blair are too be honest everything i would expect from him.
  6. personally i think the actions of the Home office and the police in this have been frankly disgusting. You can obviously see that the home office have simply come up with a list of anyone who isn't "British", who has any criminal offence and simply went "Right let get rid of the boobalubes. That will show we are well tough on crime!" We have seen the same thing with cleints we are working with down in london. Irish (yes they aren't British) have been told that the home office plans to deport them back to irelenad when they got short sentences in Pentonville. Despite the fact that they can come back on the ferry as soon as they get to Ireland! I thought that was bad enough till i read the Shetlink abuot sakchai's Situation. Well done to Davey Garder & everyone else at Shetlink for highlighting this. I plan to get everyone in my office to sign up.
  7. Funny when i was living in Shetland, we had mormons living next door to us but they never doorstepped us. I wonder why? (could have been the threats of verbal abuse of even worse, the occasions when we said yes and did their head in when they tried to talk religon!).
  8. Here are some other websites that may be useful. They aren't homepage sites like myspace, but it's good for getting hold of decent music. http://hype.non-standard.net/ - This site collectes all the music/mp3 posted by music blogsites and has them all in a simple list that you can click on. A lot of good (and very diverse) music is on this site. www.pandora.com - This site is like lastfm.com in that is essentially an online radio station where you can mould what you listen to. Simply enter a name of a Band (e.g. - Oasis) and it will then play tracks that have simlar music/ lyric styles form it's online database. Note, that it asks you to sign up after a few plays (it is US only) but simply copy & paste in any ZIP Code address.
  9. Well i saw the film with the Girlfriend this weekend. I had read her copy of the book before the film and it's pretty close to the text. Having said that, the film is cack. It's way too long (goes on for about 20-30 minutes after the not-so-shattering climax), and it's VERY stupid with dialogue that blockbuster tend to have ("we need to go to Westminster Abbey in London.... thats in England!"). It also looked like Tome Hanks, Amelie & Gandalf didn't need to eat/drink/sleep/ go for a slash desite being on the run for what looked likean eternity. Oh and don't get me started on the Hankster and his weird "manageable" hair. The only good bit was when Paul Bettany playing the monk, epspecially the self Flagellation scenes. I needed to go to the toilet at that point!
  10. MY workmate in the porject we work for had the honour of asessing Mr Doherty for his drug issues in Holborn police station in London on his first major bust for drug use. Although he refused any offers of Methadone & other services (we don't apparently have a hotline to the priory!), me mate noted that he was pretty much watsted and was crapping himself at the thought that he may have to go back to prison again (he did 3 months @ Pentonville for burglary of Carl Barat's house when he got kicked out of the Libertines). As for the music? not too bad if it weren't for XFM playing it all the f**King time!!
  11. Sad to hear that your's & Alans show got the can. However i can't wait to listen to the podcast when it comes out.
