  1. Well has anyone actually read this guidance note tipycal human beghaviour to slate something before actually understanding what it is all about why is it that nobody understands what the words guidance note means it doesnt mean that you must follow these colours to the last word or that you should even pay any attention to it at all but it is there for the few who dont what there house to look like it is meant to be sited in amongst the gulberwick monstrosety!!! And as for the comments made against the planners themselves fair enough they have made it hard for themselves but this is due to a select few planners and not all of them, and remember it is not the planners who have the last say but and wait for it, the councillors who have a average age of 100, think this explains most of the terrible mistakes made relating to houseing and building in general!!! My final rant is please remeber some poor sausage in the SIC actually sat down and did this guidance note for the Shetland people to help them a little bit and it is a good guidance note with lots of helpful advise someone has speant hours on this and this person is a fully qaulified planner who spent 5 year of there life studying and people have the nerve to say they dont know what they are talking about well I am sorry but I think it is the other way around!! Ahhh calm again!!!!
  2. Has anyone heard about houses in Haldane Burgess Cresent being haunted? A girl I used to go to school with lived in a HBC house and always claimed that the house was haunted ie noises from upstairs when everyone was down stairs etc. As children we had sleepovers at her house which were always good fun but the house always had a feeling of a precence which you could not explain! 8O
  3. Another quote from the metro: "Think wasps on a bus is scary try spider on the ceiling before you fall asleep which not there in the morning"!
  4. They could even use one of the kiddies rides to escape with a little help from the tools in Geordies DIY!
  5. No I had'nt seen BB before, he did jokes about Americans, George Bush and LA mostly but there was a lot of other jokes put in like about Lord of the rings and being reckonised by people. He did a lot of music aswell i.e keyboard, guitar. He had a huge screen behind him which he made famous people sing along to Soft Cell, that was hilarious!! Go again there is no harm!! Enjoy!
  6. Saw Bill Bailey last night and he was brilliant!! Lots of funny looks and excellant jokes and of course lots of genius music!! Won't give too much of his act away as you really need to see it for yourself!! Rock on Bill!!!!
  7. I saw a car being stopped by the police from going in ower the street at millers one day last year.
  8. Not really a film but I have been watching the first series of Black Books! Its great I didnt watch it when it was on telly and I dont know why because I really like Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran !! I am definately getting the other series!! Are they just as good?
  9. We have used Reids twice for moving home and they are great, really helpfull and laid back just what you need when you are moving home especially from shomewhere like shetland or back to shetland. The good thing about Reids is that they will fit you in on there way which minimise's the cost as they are not doing a special trip just for you! And the boys that work for them are gems, really hard working a good laugh and are very grateful when you supply them with cups of tea and bacon rolls!! Hope your move goes smoothly!! Good luck and remember stay clam!!
  10. I dont get that why is it if you plead guilty to a crime the court dose not hear from the witness/s victim/s should they not get the witness/s victims acount of what happend for sentencing purpose? Probaly incase the witness/s victim over exagerated? I think I have just answered my own question?
  11. I have heard about underground bunkers before, my dad has told me stories about relations of his during the second world war being involved in the real dads army (the one that would of done something) and how they had secret meetings in the dead of night. I have never heard of any nuclear bunkers though, but there is probally more than you think, remember Shetland has always been a target!!
  12. Yeah the Fort Chippy got voted best vegetarian chippy or something! I miss the Fort Chippy I wish the ginger guy from the Fort would come down here and teach the Italians how to run a good chippy!! I have never understood why most chippys in Edinburgh (well scotland really) are run by Italians?
  13. I have experienced bullying first hand within the SIC and it wasn't by a manager it was a tiwisted old woman who thought she knew everything better then you and who made snide comments and caused arguments for no reason some people told me it was because she was jealous that colleuges twenty years her junior had more responsibilty than her but I just think she was a twisted manipulative bigot who would be a bitch to anyone! The manager at the time was being bullied by her aswell so nothing really got done about it! But these things happen but I am soooooo glad that I am well lout of it!! I just think that people who try and make others lives difficult at work really must have a problem within themselves! There is way too much bitching going on in workplaces!! Thats my rant for the day!
  14. Mia

The shop around the corner from my flat sells a packet of crisps called jonny's cheesy tool box!! 8O sounds dirty!
  15. Creamola foam might be coming back!! Yeah I cant wait I have many a childhood memory having creamola foam when I was little ahhhh creamola foam mmmmmmmmm!
  16. Dont worry about it Sparky you will get somewhere to live I know it is scary when you think you have somewhere then you dont but if you are moving up to shetland you have to learn to be calm and relaxed and take your time over things!! There is a 3 bedroomed house for rent on the Dowle Smith and Rutherford site in Dunrossness £450 a month! Get in touch with Hjaltland Housing Assoication and put your name on the council list aswell you will get somewhere!! Chin up
  17. I always find that after a good dump I feel less hungover its like all the alcohol has finally left your system, its such a good feeling not a very nice smell though!! (sorry that was a bit mingin!) But one of the best cures is a fried egg roll!! But be careful not to drink to much fulids as it can make you puke a lot!! Just take small sips of water often!! I have learned my lesson after pukein for about half an hour at work one saturday after drink ribena and a glass of orange juice! I think I was still drunk so my judgement on what fuilds to drink was all to pot!
  18. I say Edinburgh but I am bias as I love Edinburgh after spending many a summer holiday in Edinburgh as a kid and now living here, it is my favouite city so far! I do like Glasgow for the shopping but it feels very harsh to me probally because Edinburgh is very soft on the eye with all the trees and parks everywhere (dont get me wrong I know Glasgow has parks too clam down glasgow lovers!! :) ) I have been to London but very breifly so cant really make a comment on it except its big!! Manchester is ok very good nightlife and friendly but is it just me or is all the shops in centres? I am a typical Shetlander when it comes to Aberdeen I dont like it probally because it is the first thing you see when you come off the boat and the last thing you see leaving the mainland, its just when you come in the harbour its bogin! Plus its just too close to shetland for me not in a bad way just that it would be too easy to just go home on the boat anytime you wanted.
  19. No I haven't seen that one, I will look it up cheers Have you seen the Bunker I watched it one night on sky its not too bad a bit cheesy but watchable.
  20. I really enjoy watching Dog Soldiers its one of those film that I dont really get bored with and I like the fact that the dog survives! Plus there is some really funny dialouge with the soldiers!! Rock on Dog Soldiers
  21. I am going to Bill Bailey and the Soma night aswell!! Cant wait for the soma night its going to be packed (hopefully!) Not been to anything yet but I have heard the fireworks everynight from my flat (does that count?) I do find the tickets a bit pricey but maybe that coz I am a bit skint at the moment!
  22. Ahh the Shawshank Redemption just saying that words make me feel cosy that film is an absolute masterpiece!! Can you believe that the Daily Mail gave Lake Placid (the crappy film with the huge crok) more stars than Shawshank 8O they should be hung drawn and quartered!! The Green Mile is coming on telly soon aswell I love Film Four!!!!!
  23. Not many Edinburgh bars been mentioned yet so here are a few. Robbies down Leith Walk serves up a nice pint and some good banter!! Boda down Leith Walk, I would say that this is more of a wine bar but still is serves up a good pint!! It is a nice cosy little bar with sofas and comfy chairs try it if you get a chance!! The Last Drop at the Grassmarket really nice pub more of a traditional bar and serves up a good palte of haggis neaps and tatties!! Yum Yum Yum!! Black Bo's just off Clark Street (cant remember the street name ) really cool little pub definately worth a visit the kind of pub that you dont want to leave!! Got lots more but dont want to make myself look like a alchi!!
  24. My thoughts exactly Njungle!!! I felt very emotional when I watched this film as it brought back so many memories of childhood as I grew up with JCs music and because he sadly passed away a year before Jacquin Pheonix and Reese Whetherspoon were brilliant in the film!! I dont think there could of been a better actor for the part of Jonny Cash!!
  25. Totally agree with you on that one!! Walk the line is an excellant film!! It is really good to watch in the ceinema as the music is soooo lound in the beginning it makes your insides tremble!! I think I enjoyed it even more because I was able to go and watch it with my dad in the knowledge that he was really enjoying it and not just putting up with it for my sake!!
