david
Who else watched this amazing bit of telly that makes the licence fee seem so worth while?!
Strawb
I can't say it excited me enough to solely justify the licence fee, however after their encounter with the polar bear outside their rickety hut in northern Norway, I can't begrudge the BBC cameramen a penny of their salaries 8O
spencey7
I towt it wus good, but half o it wus virtually shot-for-shot wi "March of the Penguins" (wi'oot Morgan Freeman's voiceower). Im sure it'll be better nixt week in a different environment.
Sparky
Really enjoyed this, missed it earlier in the year as I was working Sunday nights (is this a new series or a repeat of the first one?).The Polar bear footage was incredible, i never realised how far they had to swim as the ice melted!Agree that the penguin footage was in line with March of the penguins but I just love those little fellas so would be happy to watch them all day
Jonners
The Polar bear footage was incredible, i never realised how far they had to swim as the ice melted! That really was incredible! I love these shows. They have masses of stunning visuals and huge amounts of emotion. Nature is just so fecking cruel! I was slightly pleased when the walrus got away from the polar bear but I almost couldn't stand it when the bear died!
Fjool
I almost couldn't stand it when the bear died! I was hoping they'd throw the bear a steak to help it out. Or stun a walrus...
junior
It was the bit with the bear emerging from its hide that I liked. Having spent however long inside, it looked so happy to get out, have a strech, and a roll down the snow
McFly
Amazing series. Amazingly filmed, and just the right quantity and tone of narration from David Attenborough. A triumph for the Beeb The opening footage of the "ice cathedrals" this week was some of the best camera work and editing I've seen on the box in a long time. Sparky
I'm looking forward to the Great White footage I've seen in the trailers.
Styles
I used to tell the idiots at UNI that you could see polar bears from Unst on the ice sheets! They didnt think this could at all be untrue! Either i am a good lier or it shows how little many folk know about the geography of the UK! david
Haha. I'll have to try that one sometime.
Mini
Either i am a good lier or it shows how little many folk know about the geography of the UK! I convinced a girl on my uni course that Shetland was 60 miles away from Canada, and that it took 12 days to get the boat to the Scottish mainland. Bless. Njugle
Last nights edition, featuring the shallow temperate seas, was awe-inspiring. I find it hard to think of descriptive terms that are not just mindless gushing! Absolutely outstanding. The dolphins aqua-planing up the beach was captivating, the slo-mo footage of "air-jaws" was masterful and the vision of the hump-backed whales and petrels toward the end was like a different world.......i could spout on, but it would be embarassing. I think it's repeated on BBC4 before the next episode. I would recommend it most highly. Gush over
McFly
I got the entire box set out of Fopp on Byres Road at the weekend. I couldn't believe they've released it before it's all been on the telly
