breeksy
Mentioning no specific posts or names... Someone posted somewhere on Shetland "please bare with us" Now, I'm sure for some people that would tempt them into buying the car, but it's probably a bit off-putting for most.... We also received a communication at work from someone that allegedly wasn't displeased with how his case was going - but it read " I'm not unhappy with current proceedings". Thats alright then! Medziotojas
Sorry Shetland News; it hasn't been your best week. Power problems close school HAPPYHANSEL primary school in Walls closed its doors on Wednesday after electrical problems surfaced the day before. Staff called out Hydro engineers on Tuesday to investigate the fault and kept the children at home as a safety precaution until yesterday (Thursday). Yesterday principal teacher Eleanor Walterson the school and its electrics were back to normal. Glad to hear the principal teacher is back to normal. Frances144
Well could someone tell me what an "abondment of her business" means? I have a potential Court Order about this and I have no idea what they are on about! The Solicitor who wrote had this threatening letter typed at me will not reply or tell me. So, if anyone knows, what is an ABONDMENT?
Medziotojas
Never come across this term before and it isn't on the Legal English website. Could it be from the French "abonnement" meaning "subscription"?
EM
I think that her choice of thread indicates she doesn't think it is anything other than an example of an illiterate lawyer trying to spell abandonment.
Medziotojas
Right enough, engage brain before opening mouth, or in this case typing Heck it's Friday (already half-ten), and I am beginning to feel myself hopelessly drawn towards another thread. Yeah, we were going for "abandonment" and will deal with it appropriately - filed carefully in the bin. Having been a legal secretary for many years a) you end up typing what you think your boss is trying to say and he doesn't sign anything he hasn't agreed you typed! Illiterate secretary or lawyer - could be both. How sad.
Heimdal
Found this dealing with marine insurance... Abondment Clause Clauses often contained in an insurance policy stating that the insured cannot abandon damaged property and then file a claim with an insurer. Frances144
Oooh, hopeful. I will try and talk to them on Monday! Thanks, Heimdal. Good effort.
MuckleJoannie
I Googled abondment and came up with thishttp://www.laborlawtalk.com/showthread.php?t=115443 From about halfway down the page There is a thing in Texas about land abondment. I beleive if a person moves on the property without permission and the owner never contests it then the person who moved on it after a certain time can claim it is abadoned and take ownership. I only know about this after reading about it in a local newspaper when some migrants started setting up home on a plot of private land. Sounds like they became owners not because the owner abandoned the land but because the occupiers satisfied the adverse possession statute. Google something like "adverse possession elements" and you'll probably get a good understanding of what it is.
